It is what it is. Dirrell talked a lot of crap towards Plant and that was already pushing it. Plant reacting like that doesn’t make it any better but he had every right to feel that way after all the trash talking during the build up.

The motif on Dirrells T shirt at the weigh in, might have had some significance in Caleb Plants burying actions post fight

I agree. The celebration (for want of a better word) was tactless/base and it would've made for an awful look for the sport and (one would assume) a lifetime of penance for Plant if Dirrell's condition had been serious. But he was full of adrenaline and high emotion, having just categorically silenced a guy who had directed a tirade of bitter and ominous invective toward him in the buildup while he laughed off and internalized the abuse as fuel. The matter was obviously personal between them. Fortunately, Dirrell was fine.

I guess it really doesn't really help Plant's image with boxing fans, though, because he already seems to catch a lot of flack on account of the business with his deceased child. I don't know his personal life, outside of having read the mother's account, and I can't claim to know whose story is closer to the real one.

This is a hurt sport, each participant is not in a protected suit and helmet with scoring touch pads on them to assess the winner, it is 2 fighters trained for strength and stamina hitting unprotected head and body of opponent with gloved fists, it hurts, it damages, it causes acute and chronic health issues, and yes regrettably death for some.

Some folk are getting all upset about Plants post fight actions, whereas the real physical hurt and damage happened in the nearly 27 minutes when they were both punching each other.

I don’t get the double standard. You can be the biggest ass in the world leading up to the fight but afterward it’s all good? Some of the stuff Dirrell said leading up to fight and the foul he was pulling during fight really pissed of Plant. Could he have taken the high road, yea, but sometime you got to treat trash like trash. I had no problem with it. Not a fan of Plant by any mean either.

Wait, Anthony said that? I didn't catch it, but what I did hear from Dirrell sounded hostile enough, and not just in a theatrical/promotional way.

Dirrell had a shirt that said he's going to plant flowers.

You know exactly what that means. Plant's gesture was basically a reaction to that statement.

Do I like it? No, but Dirrell has been crossing the line leading up to the fight.

I'm torn because that was straight sociopathic especially when it took a while for Dirrell to get up. I understand that in the fight game there's only room for so much empathy but a bit of basic human dignity should be automatic by the time you become an adult.

On the other hand...Dirrell's mouth, as always, was writing checks his ass couldn't cash, and the leg-breaker came to collect. If you're a mid (and Dirrell is absolutely a mid), then know your place and don't talk ****.

I didn't realize he said that at first I thought he just said some other disrespectful stuff but he crossed the line with that.

Trash talking before a fight is promotion. Show class after the fight.

The Super 6 days. That was hilarious when Andre was trying to avoid fighting Ward.

Interesting that it was Dirrell who was behaving like a total punk before and during the fight but it is Plant who has no class? Karma bit Dirrell hard
