He was as bedazzled by Shields as Marshall was. He didn't have a scooby doo in the corner.

I thought Peter’s advice (at least what we heard on his mic) was poor during the fight but let’s be honest, no trainer was leading Marshall to a win over this version of Shields. If Shields was a bit older than perhaps she could get caught more but Shields is simply levels above Marshall.

As soon as she came out for the first I said to my mate he's tried to turn her into Hughie. Marshall was brave, but not very good.

Very likely. He had one pro fight and lost so that argument of his is a bit thin anyway

It doesn't matter what advice Peter gave to Marshall she was just a level below the GWOAT.
Before the fight I thought Marshall was going to chin Shields then after the ring walk I really wanted her to but when the bell rang it was clear for everyone to see Shields is an elite level talent with elite skill and accuracy.
She also showed she has some dog in her when she stood toe to toe.
Peter probably didn't give much advise as he knew Marshalls only chance was to clip Shields but knew she has some chin and was taking licks all night and dishing it back.
I still don't like the GWOAT but after last night I respect her as a boxer.

I think people are being over critical of Fury. He knows Savannah the fighter better than anybody and its well known she lacks confidence and it was clear last night she is atleast a level below Shields. Sometimes the best thing a cornerman can do is just just to add that bit of belief to his fighter.

Poor work by Fury in my opinion. Does he tailor his approach based on the opponent. I thought there would have been far more prep in setting traps etc and trying to walk shields on to shots by using her range a bit more.

Shields was a level above so doubt it would have made a difference but they did seem a bit short of ideas.

I thought Shields was just way better than I've seen her before. How Shields looked in her last fight (against Kozin) I can see that Savannah and Fury had gameplans that could have looked like working. But last night her sustained intensity and speed was just too much and Savannah wasn't allowed to show her usual skills.

Shields raised her game and savannah couldnt match her.
I'm not going to bash Peter for his corner work, no cornerman gets the best information over all of the time and sometimes the best advice can be given but the fighter doesn't even try what has been advised or they simp can't do what is needed.
Now for me with the luxury of been sat in my front room in my recliner with no pressure and the benefit of hindsight its easy to suggest that sav should of kept her range, potshot and get ready to step back and laterally. Bait clarrisa into counters then drop the range for her and nail her once more as she shoots then get out again but as much as these girls are good fighters they dont have elite level skills like we are accustomed to in the men, there just not that depth there yet.
Might nor if been Peters best night in the corner but the man's not a magician and overall his knowledge of training fighters is good.

I'm not saying I know the complete gameplan but a couple of key snippets from Peter Fury in build up: Savannah needs to work her way in from the outside, or she will lose. Also if Savannah gets in love with her power and goes looking for the knockout it won't come and she will lose. She needs to mix up the power, and keep Claressa guessing.

I thought the game plan was all wrong. She tried to make it an inside fight nd shields was far too composed. And was able to time marshalls forced work imo.

Her biggest asset is her length and power. She took away her best assets by rushing and trying to over work her. She didn't set for power punches.

They relied on shields tiring and being able to land heavy shots when she slowed but she as shields was so composed she didn't tire more sa marshall imo
