Cotto is one of my favorite, a very technically skilled fighter with power and a lot of determination. I also like Margarito, who is one of the toughest fighters out there. Even with all of Cotto's skills, I see Margarito's size and punch output giving him problems. I think this will be a huge test for Cotto as I think Margarito is capable of beating him. If Cotto wins this one, he's truly a great fighter.

You're right, I should not be comparing Cintron to a smurf.

Cintron is far taller and longer than Cotto, and he has concrete in his fists. He is a one-punch KO guy, Cotto Smurf is not.

    Other quick hits:

    * Someone mentioned my calling Clottey a "defensive genius," and said that was a stretch. I'll grant you that, although his high hands block a ton of punches.

What I should have said is that compared to Cotto, Clottey is a defensive genius. Watching Torres batter Cotto at will was all anyone needs to know about the ease of hitting the smurf. Again, in power shots landed vs Cotto: Zab - 57%; Sugar - 53%. The guy has no defense. Clottey is Einstein, defensively, to Cotto's Sling Blade guy.

    * Zakman - You know the deal. I respect Cotto, but this is all wrong for him, the matchup.

    * Mosley/Cotto - I did have SSM winning the fight, like Tim Smith of the New York Daily News and other writers did. Mosley hurt Cotto in the 9th and had Cotto on the run the last 4 rounds. That won him the fight. All you need to know about the fight is that it was in New Yorican land and the fight itself, the show, was sponsored by the island of Puerto Rico. Give me a break.

    * Everyone that wants me to be here on Saturday night: Don't worry, I'll be here. But you won't be, when smurf gets pwned.

    * Anyone that thinks I picked either Gomez or Judah over Cotto hasn't paying attention.

    * Whoever said that Cotto shouldn't be compared to Taylor is likely correct. There is no equivalent to Hopkins on Cotto's resume, let alone twice. Mosley is the closest thing, but Shane is a guy who relies on his speed and reflexes much more than Bernard does. That is, Shane is likely to age much more poorly than is Hopkins, even if he is in great condition. Also, the lower-weight guys tend to age more rapidly relative to heavier fighters.

I thought Hopkins won the fights with Taylor, but that's another story.

    Peace! :thumbsup:good:thumbsup

Told you guys. This was SO DAMN EASY to call.

Cotto = Jermaine Taylor, just like I said.

Two protected, fraudulent HBO fighters who got KO'd in devastating fashion when they stepped up to the plate.

Don't EVER doubt me or my boxing knowledge, because it's better than yours. And I proved it.

    Again.

Funny thing is I've heard all of this from Cotto Fans and Marg haters. They are now saying that Cotto is and was always a B level fighter and that's how Marg was able to win.:rofl By the way....awesome prediction you just had the wrong man winning..

Paulfv mad props. In hindsight, this was a really good breakdown. Truth is I thought Cotto's accumulative damage would eventually slow Margo down and that though Margarito would probably wobble Cotto in the 2nd half, he would no longer have the legs to finish him off. I knew Margarito was one of the toughest guys in the sport (if you check my past posts, I said before the fight I thought he had the best chin today), but i thought that the accumulative damage would just slow him down, which it didn't.

I have a hard time believing that you picked Gomez to beat Cotto, is that true?
