Could Max Baer Have Thumped Joe Frazier To Defeat??

He had the tools to do it on paper.

I guess that the smart money would be on Baer to find a way to lose.

If I was managing Frazier, I would not let him fight Baer, unless there was absolutely no other option.

 

I still have Joe Frazier winning this despite not being at his best or totally prepared and well trained for George Foreman in Jamaica. Even prime Max Baer by all accounts didn't take boxing too seriously he was regarded in his time as one of the finest physical specimens the sport had ever seen however he was still more interested in show business and skylarking so for that reason I'm favouring Frazier.

 

Baer might have a small chance. But, I would bet on Frazier beating the brakes off of Baer in about 8 rounds.

 

Maybe his son Jethro might have. Ha Ha.

 

I don't see a path to victory for Baer.

No. He would have been meat for the grinder. He was nowhere near a Foreman level operator.

 

Then you don't understand styles.

 

Max had the style to trouble any Swarmer. I would not rule out a Baer victory here. Baer's crazy style could turn out to be a nightmare for Joe.

 

Maybe. Baer had the power but I don’t know if he was the caliber of two fisted hitter that George was. Foreman was an ATG.

i like baer but the foreman comparisons are pretty weak. Yes they both hit hard but pretty different styles tbh. I don't see Baer throwing those uppercuts that lifted Frazier off the floor. I see him throwing big wind-up punches that frazier avoids with his excellent upper-body movement and connects with that left hook until Baer gets stopped on his feet.
