Wilder's ass is grass and Holmes is the lawnmower.

I doubt Wilder goes as long as Cooney did.

Holmes will puff up Wilder face. It would be 12 rounds of what he did to Tex Cobb.

    Jab painting the face.

I do like it when people so openly expose themselves as knowing nothing about boxing.....like the people in this thread talking about Larry's performance against Mike as if he was in his prime.

It doesn't matter anyways. That version along the early 90s version was good enough to beat Wilder anyways.

Holmes took full blooded shots from Earnie Shavers and Mike Weaver, Wilder hasn’t got their kind of power so no he doesn’t even have a punchers chance

    Holmes schools him.

Holmes has the best jab in hw history, great footwork, nice pop in his right hand, fast hand speed and durable. You have to say he probably breaks Wilder down terribly.

You guys are overrating Holmes head to head.

I mean I’m being tongue in cheek here because Holmes is an ATG, but in his case I do think he would have some struggles against the big guys. He weighed in the 210 to 215 range and was plenty big for a HW of that era.

Unfortunately he fought in a horrible era. Not his fault but it’s more difficult to rate Holmes than it outta be.

I think the Skill gulf between the two is so large, you have to make Holmes big favourite. Wilder is a one trick pony he sets it up well, and has good fighting qualities, but he can't box to a high standard, Holmes jabs his nut off, he also has that high level mentality where he won't Wilder off the hook. Unlike other fighters who have outboxed Wilder but get sloppy or don't know how to manage the fight.

Holmes wins easily. I think Wilder is able to survive though and he loses on points

I agree Holmes would be the favorite. I do not agree with most people in the thread but this would be a savage beating or that this would be an easy fight for him, however. Holmes liked to fight tall/upright and control range, so from that point of view some of what he did in the 70s and early 80s would not translate as well to big modern HWs.
