That's because he can't beat up on middleweights. Look at the result against Bernard Hopkins for the undisputed middleweight championship or even against Sturm for the WBO middleweight title. He just can't hang with the bigger animals up there. So he goes south into the lighter weight divisions.

Amen. There is no way oscar can retire on a high note for Fighting smaller boxers. If he wants to be considered a BADASS he should beat a top Welter or Jnr Middle. If not his golden shine is starting to dull out!

De La Hoya has disgusted me with his little man ****.

I'll never look at him the same way because of it.

Oscar doesn't want to take the chance of fighting Margo and end
up with his face looking like Cotto's after Rd 11.....which is a good possiblity.

Not a way for a January 2009 boxing calendar photo to be marketed.

DLH cannot beat the following fighters at 154 get real.

Santos, Forrest (whom he avoided at 147) nor even Cory Spinks.

This 'puto' has been getting over on people for years. I'm frankly don't know his appeal as save for Vargas and Mayorga, he's lost EVERY major fight he's been in including IMO Whitaker.

Why not, a small man that can make him a lot of money. We all know what's going to happen already if they fight but this fight will sell....

    well lets face it...

oscar is the face of boxing and boxing needs him. but he's not an elite fighter - he's fallen short of that.

he's hall of fame but thats it.

He's made a career out of it pretty much. When he started out, he boiled down to Jr. LW to beat up on smaller guys then, and he's pretty much done the same thing as he's gotten bigger.

"heøs pretty much done the same thing as he's got bigger?".

regardless of what people think of oscar, he's fought the best fighters of his era within the limits of his weight.

he may not have conquered them all, but i think it's dismissive to nail the guy based on that.

if nothing else, the man put himself on the line (even though cash might be his incentive) and threw caution to the wind more than other top fighters of his era.
