Cotto had never bean beaten before last weekend, in his mind he was the baddest man alive. Now somebody came along and took that away. And not just barely took that away, this guy gave him a beating that he will NEVER forget. That beating will be in the back of his mind everytime he steps into the ring from now on. B/c now he knows it is possible it could happen again and mentally that changes everything. If Cotto fights him again right away expect more of the same, but maybe even faster this time. Cotto hit him repeatedly with everything he had and he never came close to hurting Margorito. He was wise to try and box and run box and run but with a fighter like Margorito who applies constant pressure it's only a matter of time before he is forced to fight. And he may never have the tolls to win that kind of a fight with Margorito.

 

I agree i would like to see cottos next fight and see what his mental state is like a fight like that can definately hurt a fighter mentally and physically he defo dont want anymore fights like that ,i personally dont see cotto beating him in a rematch cottos style just aint being on the back foot .

 

Cottos style was nowhere to be seen on saturday. He usually goes to the body which would have been far more effective against Toni coz we all know he has a steel chin but I reckon the breathing was also a big hindrence to Miguel.

Props to Toni for constantly coming forward but I reckon a few tweaks in the tactics would see him soundly beaten on points in a rematch.

 

You are correct. Rounds 1-6 saw Cotto putting a sound beating on Margo, and actually making him look silly. Margo did nothing different the rest fo the fight, Cotto did. Cotto can ab-so-****ing-lutley win the rematch, by just tweaking his gameplan.....
