Apparently not. I was probably high and just voting in what I thought was a random poll as always.

Part of being a fighter is dependant on your chin, heart, will, stamina and determination. This is why I say Cotto is the better boxer. He has better technical boxing skills and employs them/employed them during their fight.. But, you cannot say that Cotto was the better fighter that night. Better boxer; certainly, but he was clearly outfought by Margarito..

PEOPLE, COTTO IS NOT THE BETTER FIGHTER!!!!!!!!!

He is the more techicaly sound boxer between the two. Being more technicaly sound does not make you a better fighter, period. Quit saying Cooto is the better fighter.

In boxing the better fighter is the guy that won. That is the definition of a better fighter when you compare two guys who have fought. Can you guys understand better technique does not equal better fighter.

When Carlos Quintana beat Paul Williams, was he the better fighter? And if Carlos Quintana was the better fighter, then why did he get knocked out in 1 round in the rematch?

Quotes like these really put you squarely in the junior ed. bracket. I'm sorry but you don't know what you are looking at when it comes to this fight. Margarito was taking bits and pieces from the boxer Cotto from round 1 onward. Nothing Cotto did suggests he stood and traded with Margarito.

I agree.... But if cotto would have just stayed off the ropes and circle margo, he would have boxed his ears off - like he did in the 1st and the 5th..

The 5th round was the best round of cottos career, yet he got lazy stopped moving and got broke down...

If cotto would have had the boxing dicipline of mayweather and just kept circling him, cotto would have won around 9-3 rounds....

Seen cotto's face? How abut the times he was stuck on the ropes? He didnt exactly hit marg then move right away, he absorbed some shots then fired back. He should of either clinched or gtfo of there

Cotto did move and get away in the beginning then faded as the fight went out and didn't trade with margo, but would throw then sit on the ropes.. then move. Instead of throw and move, he would absorb the punches.

People need to learn that a fighter, in relation to the sport of boxing, is the same thing as a "boxer". A boxer isn't a fighter who likes to box, unless you are referring to the specific style, it is a person who partakes in boxing as a profession.

Margarito Head to Head is a better boxer than Cotto. He is not a better TECHNICIAN of boxing, but head to head is a better boxer/fighter. Chin, stamina and mental strength are important characteristics of a professional BOXER, and Margarito is A+ in those Categories where as Cotto is clearly on a lower tier.

ive been in many fights and i can tell you that in a fight i would rather be margarito than cotto because he is a better FIGHTER! if i was teaching boxers i would much rather be cotto as he is the better boxer.

I'm going to have to agree with you here Ambition. Cotto had no choice but to fight the way he did. When you're getting pounded to the body, are forced to breath through a bloody mouth, and can't stop your opponent from coming foward; you're going to have a hard time executing the gameplan. When Cotto gets pinned against the ropes, he fights back and forces his opponent to retreat. He's not like Mayweather, he can't simply wiggle his way out on a consistent basis. Now when you're ****ed up, and your opponent is busting you with uppercuts and is completely unphased by your punches, well you can see why he would have difficulty moving the fight to the center of the ring.

The day he beat him, yes. What happens in the future is the future. If Cotto comes back and beat him in a rematch then yes Cotto WILL become the better fighter. As of right now he is nothing more then the technicaly better boxer then Margo. You still don't get better technique and the claim of better fighter.

So going by your same train of thought, if cotto was better why did he get TKo in the 11?
