:happy thanx for being smart enough to look up the defintion cutting and pasting it for me.. :verysad and doing it in such an arrogent, punk a$$ way... you must be real smart... Todays words of the day: F#ck off :thumbsup
read the whole thread, got into it, then read this and literally just started laughing like a ******. awesome.
:rofl If you think that one is bad you should see the one Samurai is sportin. Damn that one is awful to look at.
Glad to be of service. It appeared as if a few people in the thread needed assistance so I volunteered it so you guys would stop jumping down the dude's throat for no reason. The tricky thing wasn't necessarily locating the definition, it was actually recognizing the sarcasm itself. Granted, sarcasm in prose is tough to detect but one has to be smart enough to concede to the fact that others are as smart as he is. So when one is confronted with something that's seemingly outrageous instead of taking it for face value there should be something that goes off in one's mind that says, "Hey, wait a minute. This guy's up to something. He knows this is both outrageous and fallacious, too. He's just being facetious." You give other people credit, too, and it'll be that much easier to detect sarcasm. Sidenote: I'm already familiar with today's words of the day. But thanks, anyway.
I don't have a problem with Margo whooping Cotto... remember how Cotto chose to weight Drain before fights when he was at 140.... so he could bully little guys? My problem is with boxing becomin more of a weight draining exercise....rather than referring back to skills in the ring and other training before fights... Now its possible for some freaks of nature (like Paul Williams) to weight drain enough before a fight so he can be a welter. In reality he's just a bigger guy beating up smaller guys.... he's allowed to do it beca\use he has become an expert (freak) in weight draining exercise. There are others as well...but Williamns is an obvious choice. I heard Clottey weighed in at 170 (with jeans on) on fight night. If you bring back same day weigh in, you reduce the factor of weight draining and size differances between fighters on fight night....if the bigger guy wants to fight the smaller guy now....he'll have to work harder training/running etc. ...not just weight draining 1 day before the fight. Same day weigh in would allow fighters to be judged more on their boxing skills when they fight rather than a bigger man just bullying the smaller man. It would basically mean all the big guys in their respective divisions would besically have to move up one if they wanted to fight or they would have to lose more weight by training differantly or perhaps longer... But basically the size issue would be less of a factor and the fight would not hinge on how good you are at draining of your weight the day before the fight.
Weren't people weight draining anyway even on the day of the fight weigh ins? That's why they decided to do the weigh ins the day before? People were trying to rehydrate in only a few hours instead of a day. When there are weight limits that have to be met people are going to try to get down in lower weight classes. It has it's advantages and disadvantages. People say somebody gets tired or hurt easier because he's weight drained and people say you get to bully around people easier. You have to weigh the risk and reward factor.
People would still try to rehydrate after weigh in but it won't give thme such a big margin now.... or if they tried it and did not hydrate enough for the fight ....you would see bigger guys losing more...because it would mean they are weaker...like you said.... but come to think of it....it would probably mean a lot of fighters (who would not re-hydrate properly) would end up getting brain damage or less oxygen etc...durin g the fight and would cause more serious injury to them....So I guess they probably won't bring it back.... even though it would make for better fight matchups
You are correct. Yes, they moved it back because of the problem fighters were having being dehydrated. Even if you do cancel out the dehydrating process all that will happen is near everyone in their current bracket is gonna go up one or two brackets. And all our present cruisers will be heavyweights. Same fights, same guys, different weight class.
147 for over a decade and he doesn't suffer from weak chin syndrome like Cotto did t 140 for weight draining.
Dont get mad at Marg for being able to make weight. If you could make a weight and not sacrifice your body while doing it than more power to you right? Why would a fighter purposly give themselves less of an advantage by going up in weight if they dont have to ? OBviously if Marg was sacrificing and wasn't a natural WW he wouldn't have the stamina he does. ODLH and Mike Tyson are the same height but does that mean OScar should be fighting at Heavy? no dude different body types produces different results. Cotto is shorter but I bet he is stronger than taller guys at 147,140, and 135. By the way Marg has beaten nothing but smaller fighers, than what the hell is CIntron? YOur wack man except the loss Cotto got. IF you could make 147 easy and be stronger than a "natural"147 pdr than maybe you are a natural 140 if you were to be a "prize " figher. Remember it takes weeks to make weight.
if they make weight, i see no problem. imo the thing about cutting lbs. off is that it is a double edged sword. it can either be to your advantage, or to your detriment.
