That's the one for me also, always astonishing how Duran fought a man so much larger and powerful and won.

Rumble in the Jungle is tops for me. Ali choosing to lay on the ropes, which seemed suicidal, and was probably the exact opposite of what Foreman was expecting, was quite the plot twist. Also, I believe Ali got in his head in a big way with the constant trash talking. Foreman was viewed as some kind of giant entering that fight. I forget who said it, but somebody said that Foreman appeared to get smaller with each passing round of that fight. After the bell ending the 6th round, Foreman had a look on his face like he knew he was in trouble. Foreman was mentally & physically beaten that night. Brilliant fight plan by Ali. Not sure if the rope-a-dope had been done by any other fighter before that. That fight is alongside Johnson-Jeffries & Louis-Schmeling is the most iconic fight in the sport IMO.

I watch a lot of Sonny Liston on YouTube but mostly it involves him skipping to night train.
I'd heard about this phenomenon back in the 70's off my trainers and thought it was just nostalgia playing tricks.
Nope, watching Sonny skipping to that tune is beautiful

Yeah I love this one as well. For all this, and for what it meant to the career of one of my favorite fighters. Holmes was washed up and done by the time of that fight. People were worried about Mercer seriously hurting him. And then you can watch in real time Holmes get his mojo back, rebuild his confidence, show the world he still knew a thing or two, and make Mercer hate whoever on his team convinced him that Holmes would be an easy way to score a victory over a big name.

I also prefer Raphael Marquez. I think the first fight would have been even better if Israel Vasquez's nose hadn't been broken and continued on. I'd agree with you and go with the first fight.
