You've misunderstood my original post with 'BOY' in it which is probably my fault. The fight either involved a fighter from the southern states or was held there ?? Anyway Leonard and Green became good friends after fight and keep in touch. Green always speaks of Leonard in glowing terms
Sad news ; have a complete run from the 1930s to present day. Like a good pal knocking on the door every month ! Thankfully my weekly mate Boxing News survives
I still have the replica of the first issue they sent to subscribers. They also used to sell from their book shop. I still have a few photos and books from there. Reprints of posters, available in the 80’s were great. In the original yellow, red and black colours. I have the Ambers- Jenkins, Louis- Schmeling 2 ones. Tickets for the latter were from $5.75 to $30 including tax, reserved seats at the Yankee Stadium 8.00 p.m, Wednesday 22 June.
Minutiae it is, but I couldn’t remember until now where I wrote this to correct it - Ring Magazine was started (established) in 1922, not 1921. How did I mis recall that? Now I can rest easy and sleep…..LOL.
