Smith was an absolute corpse against Canelo
He should have moved up straight after WBSS

John Ryder bullied Smith's corpse too and was robbed.

Smith still doesnt beat Canelo mind you. Think it would be a fair bit more competitive though and he would beat Ryder legit @175.

Yarde probably beats Smith too imo but they both get cleaned up by Beterbiev.

Both Pastor Dmitry and King Artur wanted this after the later beat Joe Smith but OG Bob had no interest and instead pushed for Artur vs Yarde in the UK.

Reasons why he should've pushed hard for Artur vs Pastor Dmitry

    Artur is almost 38
    Has become very injury prone
    Mandos will be called

He knows Artur's chances of achieving his dream decrease the older he gets
Artur could easily get injured and be out for another year again as he has been numerous times

    Artur has to keep winning
    Bivol has to keep winning

If one of them lose before facing each other for all the marbles they're robbed of a huge legacy fight

'Bob Arum says WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol isn’t a big enough attraction for him to match against the winner of tonight’s 175-lb unification fight between champion Artur Beterbiev and Joe Smith Jr.

Instead, Arum has already decided to match the winner against Anthony Yarde.'

“That fight has really no pizzazz to it,” Arum told IFL TV. “Bivol is a very good boxer. Sort of [a] boring fighter.”

    Huh?

Just drop the titles and create your own for like 200 bucks on etsy that say "lineal wbc/who champion". Would be easier and cheaper

At this point.... If it means throwing a belt in the garbage to get the fight made it's worth it. Real fans know that the winner would be undisputed. Plus that greasy swindler Sulaimans credability would be at an all time low in the aftermath of it all.

If Smith beats Beterbiev, does that mean Canelo is better than Artur??

Lets not forget, Canelo completely schooled Callum and busted up his bicep. Do you think Artur would be as dominant as Canelo was against him? Come to think of it, this should be an interesting fight. Callum Smith is as durable as they come, I wonder if Artur will be able to stop Callum. Maybe Mr. Smith can take Beterbiev into deep waters and give him a 12 round war!!

Criminal levels of bullcrap from WBC.

I know it wont happen, but at this point I just wish Beterbiev would give up the title and fight Bivol anyways.

    This is complete bullcrap.

    WBC is an utter joke.

Artur shoudn't be forced to drop his belt. Look, Artur vs Callum Smith is a good fight, but nothing should get in the way of Bivol Beterbiev.

He should fight Yarde on a friday night, Smith a day and a half later on Sunday afternoon. He'd still ko both in five rounds or less.

Beterbiev should drop the WBC and say he only wants Bivol. He also should have done the same with the WBO, but instead he's fighting Yarde. Bivol will probably rematch Canelo. Sh*t fights that are designed to prevent an "all-Russian" undisputed fight happening.

I like Beterbiev vs Yarde and Beterbiev vs Smith more than Beterbiev vs Bivol.

East vs West is more interesting than East vs East and West vs West.

Who the f**** Smith beat to deserve title shot at 175???? Boxing is so sh****, its unreal.... I won't be aurprised if Arum has a finger in this, as he clearly doesn't want Beterbiev fight Bivol.
Boxing badly need the UFC model, 1 Undisputed title at every weight, 1 Governing Body, and promoters power next to zero. Current model is leading boxing to slow and steady death.

At least Smith has some power.
I doubt Bivol can hurt Beterbiev enough to keep him off (Beterbiev happily exchanged with big punchers Johnson and Smith Jr).

Smith looked like garbage against Canelo but who knows what was going on there. Maybe a combo of Canelo PEDs and Smith actually being drained trying to squeeze into 168 too long.

He's got good skills and counters and can take some punishment, so maybe he can make the Beterbiev fight interesting.
