Hearns and Duran. Every now and then you'd see Leonard and Hagler put on a thrilling show but Hearns and Duran, when they were at their best, did so almost everytime they stepped into the ring.

Yes, Hags was an unwavering machine who, for the most part, could step it up and pour it on as and when necessary.

Hearns, deadly and dangerous, a pleasure to watch, yet there was always the possibilty, and expectence even, that Tommy could or would get KO'd.

    intrique - Duran
    hardness - Hagler
    skill - Leonard

    uncertainty - Hearns.

Yea Hearns was so uniquely gifted, with the tools that he had. I don't know if you were a basketball fan but there was a guy named George Gervin that played. They called him the Iceman. When you watched him play you just knew there was no nobody like him. It was must see tv before the term existed.
That's the same way with Hearns. Well probably never see an offensive force quite like him again. He had height, elite speed, lethal power and a warrior's mentality to boot. At Welterweight all those attributes never come in the same package. God was feeling generous that day he created Hearns the for the suffering boxing fan.

Many focus on Hearns power especially in the right hand but overall his handspeed was right there with Leonard in the same zip code at least.

Hagler is my favourite but Hearns is probably the most exciting.
Massive power and a question mark about his durability but not his toughness made him a fans favourite.
The man is an elite echelon banger and could box but preferred to take out his opponents.
Wins over Juan Rolden, Denis Andries and James Shuler don't rank as high as his victories over Duran and Cuevas but are just as important.
He came up short in his war with MMH and was on the end of a poorly judged draw with Leonard.

No argument there. Speed wise, not a lot to choose between them. As you say, not just the power on its own, against Duran, Tommy was getting those power shots homes via blazingly fast punches/combos.

Hearns for me. Huge power, aggression, skills, speed, killer instinct but with a vulnerability of a chin that could see him hurt and stopped dramatically.

After that it’s Hagler or Duran. Just complete fighters and very durable guys (excluding Duran- Hearns but that speaks of volumes about Tommy’s assets).

In saying that SRL was bloody easy on the eye as well. Super speed, skills, heart and will. It’s easy to see why all 4 captured the publics hearts and minds. Legends all of them.

Tough question but I'd say Hearns by a hair over Hagler.

As much as I dislike Leonard, I would say him. He was so dynamic.

For sheer anything can happen it's got to be Hearns ... all four were dynamite ..

Hagler was honestly pretty boring and flavourless. Leonard was my favourite sometimes. Duran could be the most fun to watch but only when he was below or at 147lbs for me. Hearns I just didn’t like his style but if you were talking for the general populous he was the most exciting.
