G-Man beats the stuffing out of Valdes. He's superior in almost every category. More power, faster, stronger, taller and much longer reach. I don't care how durable Valdez was, he never faced a fighter with McClellan's abilities.

Valdez was a counter-puncher deluxe. An aggressive in-your-face type to him is like a boot to a cigarette. Sure McClellan hit hard, and was bigger, but so were Monzon and Briscoe, against which he gave great accounts of himself and was fine with their power.

McClellan has one chance early on, in which I firmly believe he'd fail, then he's getting picked apart and stopped.

Very good post, sure Gerald was beating Benn, but Rodrigo gave Carlos Monzon two good fights, but he has three wins over rugged Bad Bennie Briscoe, including a title winning 7th round knockout in 1974. With no disrespect meant to McClelland, he lost to Nigel Benn. Valdes could hit in his prime.

I've said on multiple different post McCllean was very overrated.
His career was made up of wins over well past prime fighters
that were naturally smaller and fighters that were never was.
The only fighter of note he faced who still had gas in the tank
    beat him.
Valdes gave Monzon a run for his money, and blitzed Briscoe,
beating him twice. Valdes power was legit against live bodies.
This fight is possibly easier for Valdes than some could imagine
He stops McCellean with in 10 rds. or earlier.

Valdez, of course. He would be spoken of in hushed tones of boxing awe and reverence, acknowledging him as a great, great champion today if it wasn't for Carlos Monzon.

Hope I don't come across as too pedantic ! Briscoe was beaten 3 times by Valdez, but agree that Rodrigo is to much of a all round fighter, and would prob stop McCllean at some stage .
    stay safe Flash.

I'm only really familiar w McClellan but tbh he lost against the best guy he faced who I wouldn't consider of the class of a Monzon. I know styles make fights but I'm here just to gloss the thread and wish there was a Valdez book. Notice he has been gettin luv lately.

Rodrigo was a durable and very skilful boxer in his prime - second only to the great Carlos Monzon. The only advantage G-Man has over him is in one punch power. Although you have to give McLellan the proverbial puncher's chance,I can only see Rodrigo winning this. By a walkover on points or by late stoppage.
