How do UK fight fans feel about fights in Saudi Arabia?

Sarcasm in relation to the age old line "it's a short career" which gets used to describe any professional in sport.

 

My sense is that with most things, people like to talk big about principles, but rarely follow through on them.

Is this an issue just in the UK? Doubt it. Most people don't "really" care much about what goes on outside of their immediate friends and family. Which is understandable and even evolutionarily prudent.

Another example would be, how many English football fans are really going to not watch the Qatari world cup this winter once the hype starts to build and the beer starts to flow?

Some maybe, but not enough to send any kind of message. Most will just watch the fight now it is Fury v Usyk. It would have been the same if it was Fury v Joshua for undisputed in Saudi, but just with a bit more public hand-wringing.

And to be honest I will watch it too. I'm not even going to pretend otherwise on this one.

 

God forbid they be ruled by “radical feminists” eh who think women should be able to drive, dress how they like, get married without a male family members permission, start their own business. Whether you agree with women (or men) going on the pull or “soliciting” or not is one thing but to make it a punishable offence is oppressive imo.

Agree with you about our interference and foreign policy in the region. Murdering hundreds of thousands of Iraqis for instance was definetly a human rights violation, on a grand scale. But we all know that human rights have nothing to do with us by we intervened, it’s about money, geopolitical power and access to resources always is. It’s why we treat the Saudis as allies, it’s why we’ve back radical religious or other wise elements against progressive governments in the past.

Anyway complex issue

 

We're in for a long period of shows being put on over there, and promoters (i.e. Eddie Hearn) going on about how amazing the atmosphere was. You don't need to be an Einstein to realize it's like the crowd are all cardboard cut-outs.

There isn't really an ethical argument because this is boxing after all, possibly the most morally questionable sport ever.
