Why would schmelings win over Louis be more significant than Louis' revenge win over schmeling?

First fight wasn't for a title, didn't have nearly the worldwide attention and political implications the 2nd fight did.

Simply for historical significance and the emergence of him being a star ,Dempsey slaughtering Willard is a top 15

Beating Louis is better than beating an aging Schmeling.

Right, I think sometimes we don't consider Louis had an aura of invincibility of his own. Schmeling's discovery and ability to read and take advantage of Louis dropping his left was tremendous.

    fact

It's a great win, but I cannot say its a very exciting fight or the greatest win in HW history... like I don't know a soul who'd rather watch that fight than most other championship bouts.

Joe Louis wasnt champion yet so I didnt think it should rank as high

Sanders' humiliation of Wlad has to be a top 15 win. No Wlad wasnt Wlad yet
Ditto McCall knocking out Lennox Lewis. Same thing that wasnt a prime Lennox
Tyson v. Spinks. Thought about it but it comes up short cause Spinks was not a great heavyweight.
Andy Ruiz tko Joshua is borderline. Maybe top 20
Lewis over Holyfield was also significant. Thought about it but dont think its as great as Fury beating Klitschkong considering where Klitschko and Holyfield were at in their careers.

Foreman vs Moorer. Maybe considering the circumstances but Moorer was not a great heavyweight.

Yes. To be fair neither does Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis or Rocky Marciano. While Joe Louis and Larry Holmes only have 1.

I’m busy at work, but to be quick Wlad (against Corrie) and Lewis (from McCall) each had belts and were better h2h than a lot of these guys like Floyd, Norton, Tokyo Tyson, Old Wlad, and likely more

That who belt that Wlad had at the time meant nothing

It meant something. They were falling in favor by then even if it wasn’t considered equal to the “Big 3.” Guys like Hamed, Calzaghe, and Wlad are the ones who turned it into a major belt.

Mike's win over Sprinks and Lewis win over Vitali would crack the top 20
