Interesting little convo above about Vitali and whether he was an ATG. Unfortunately for him…or fortunately depending on how you look at it(!)…he began his era of dominance after the great Lennox Lewis had left the stage after beating him, and the only boxer Vitali could have fought to upgrade his resume massively was his brother Wlad. And that obviously wasn’t happening. Perhaps if he had got the victory over a fading Lewis, more people might have had no hesitation in naming him as an ATG, I don’t know. For me he had ATG strength and KO power for sure. But with a lack of victories over even one or two greats…not necessarily all time greats either… that resume will always be a bit of a hindrance. Now, if he was to make a comeback ala Foreman and Holmes and wipeout Usyk and Fury then the ATG door is opened wide for him haha!
