Fair enough but my point is ODLH has a stacked resume where as Golovkin doesn't. The stats of Golovkin look impressive with the many title defences, but the actual context of the names isn't so impressive. I said this to another poster but Golovkin reminds of me of Michalczewski, a very good fighter with alot of title defences. But falls short of being great, because he doesn't really have the big names on his resume.
Hoyas resume is stacked depending on how you view each of his asterix fights. How much credit does he receive for Chavez, Whitaker, Quartey and Tito. That's what I'm saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Golovkin has a good enough resume for me to class him a MW ATG.
How could you maintain any objectivity to talk to anyone about boxing then? Also are you sure beating Canelo is enough to rate him top 10? Also how do you rate the rest of his wins to make that claim? "Scrap Iron Johnson is hw #1" "Why?" "eh I wanna"
Not good enough for the top ten all time and not too shabby so I’d say top 15. Resume is not elite but style, power and streak was impressive to me. He gave Canelo the best 24 rounds of his career IMO
No, he had 20 title defenses 18 by KO in addition to defeating Canelo. He destroyed everybody who would fight him in devastating fashion.
1. He didn't beat Canelo. 2. Beating Canelo wouldn't make him top 10. 3. Aside from pretending he beat Canelo, what are his best wins, and how do they justify top 10?
I agree, such as 20 title defences, 18 kos. But why is what we're asking. What's impressive about Jacobs and Dere. to be MW top 10?
Those numbers mean nothing. They were the best if his era. He fought everyone he could at MW and demonstrated he was the superior fighter every time on my cards.
A couple of mediocre defences then a loss against one of the elite names then retirement. 3 fights, 4 max. Edited to add - Unless he beats the elite name
He never beat Canelo hes 0-2-1 against him who himself is not a great Middleweight, and his two best wins vs Jacobs, Dereyanchenko, were both just as debatable as some of the Canelo fights. That doesn't really sound like a top 10 Middleweight resume to me.
