I like both but Joe only had a couple of fights at 175 at the end of his career. Joe had good power at 168 but by the time he hit 175 his mitts were pretty busted up. Yeah Rocky get's underrated by the casuals because he would be small by todays standards however his power. gas tank and output made him a grueling fight for anyone. Both had great attributes that overlap but Rocky is far more proven fighting the heavier guys.. I think Rocky would hit far harder than anyone Joe had faced before and although I think Joe's speed could get him into the later rounds I'm not sure he could really keep the Rocky off him for the full 12.
Not really catchweight as 185 was Marcianos natural fight weight for 2 of his title fights and few pounds heavier in the rest. I think the 'shy and retiring' Enzo in the corner of Joe would have been entertaining in itself, there might have been a expletive or two, a few animated behaviours and such like. If Enzo was willing to say to Mike Tysons face “Are you gonna f****** smile, or what?”, then he isn't going to tone down his words in the corner.
I have a lot of respect for Joe Calzaghe, but I think he's losing this fight + and I don't understand what category this imaginary fight should take place in. Heavyweight: Marciano by brutal stoppage Cruiserweight: Marciano by brutal stoppage 185 lbs: Marciano by brutal stoppage Light Heavyweight: In this category, Joe Calzaghe is not proven enough, and has never been champion. On the other hand, I'm not sure Marciano could make 175 lbs at the weigh-in. But let's say that Marciano manages to make weight at the weigh-in by dehydration, and enters the fight at 183 lbs - Marciano by brutal stoppage. Super Middleweight: Calzaghe wins by decision, if Marciano can make 168 lbs at the weigh-in, which I doubt.
I mean, that slapping **** isn’t going to work against Marciano. Marciano has literally nothing to fear from Calzaghe, don’t let his fights at 175 fool you. Bunch of karate chops from different angles and only one or two occasional proper punches per round in which even old man Hopkins parried. Calzaghe is getting stopped period.
Do you honestly not think Calzaghe could manage a similar pace considering he was famed for his insane stamina and extremely high output?
