Yes it did in the isla, read El Nuevo Dia there is an article there. Now I should had clarified myself regarding the rooting of Margarito, the controversy was caused by the radio DJs from the morning show on SalSoul who were taking calls from people on the island saying that some people there in the isla were actually rooting for Margarito. But I didnt mean a BIG controversy though my bad, maybe they just wanted to create ratings for their morning show....

This is a load of garbage... I saw this in the local news paper today from PR. They said that a radio station started the rumor but it didn't mention where the radio station was located (if in PR or elsewhere).

As a boricua who's hurt by what happen, I really doubt it as Margo strikes me as a legit and clean fighter. I don't think that he would jeoperdize his career after all he sacrifized for a W in this way. I can't wait for Thursday to come up and reflect that his test came back negative... Although it would be interesting but sad to see what happens if the results come back differently.

Ahk yeah i suppose reading bodybuilding forums too much has given me an impractical view of steroid use in the sport of boxing.

Increased recovery time is one of the things that i stated and that obviously is a great benefit to training.

Anyone know if Margo weight trains? That was kinda my reasoning, you wouldn't want to risk putting on a few pounds of muscle at his size in that division and not be able to make weight. Which could definitely happen with the introduction of steroids unless dietary adjustments were made but intentionally reducing the quality/quantity of your diet would basically defeat the purpose of introducing a performance enhancing substance in the first place.

  4. Does it really Matter where the rumor started? The reason people in PR are upset about the fight is because tey put more on the line than Cotto did. A LOOOOOOOOT of people in PR lost money on this fight. Cotto new he could not withstand any more of a beating. In my eyes he did go out like a warrior.

Exactly. There was no noticable difference in Margos stanima or any other part of his game. If he was on steroids for the Cotto fight then he must have been on steroids for most of his career and if that were the case then surely he would have been found out by now.

Funnily enough, that bit ESPN said about the steroids causing tendon and bone breakdown is bull****. Abusing them will have negative side effects of course, but any world class athlete with the resources for it should be getting a plan that's safe. If you overtrain, which steroids and EPO give you the ability to do, that's where your overuse injuries come from. Using them responsibly for a fight wouldn't cause that. Then again, alot of mainstream media loves to pretend that scare tactics about people who used far too much in the 70's-80's are relevant to what performance enhancers are capable of today when used properly.
