Whoa! Apparently Buster could bench press 400 lbs. I didn’t know that, and while it doesn’t fully represent all aspects of strength by any means, it changes things a bit for me.

I’m impressed by that stat, I wouldn’t have thought Buster could lift that kind of weight despite his size. He was stronger than I originally thought.

Here is a great article where it mentions his bench press going from 180 to 400 in addition to some other awesome facts, such as Larry Holmes calling up and giving team Douglas the inspiration for their game plan against Tyson.

Yes, Douglas was stronger. But Holyfield was THE master of the clinch (not that he needed it against Douglas). Prime Holyfield was not off balance, even with those skinny legs, when somebody was trying to lay on him. He would use an opponents weight against them, with a sidestep.. then come back in at his angle. Best ever at that. Clinch isn't all about strength.. as you all know.

Douglas was stronger. Holyfield balance the best (at heavyweight.. maybe Ali), nevermind the steroids.

So?? I'm not sure what your point is. Obviously Foreman was the strongest out of Holyfields opponent, but if your trying to say no one else ever pushed him back other than Foreman then that's a bald-faced lie. You should go back and watch those fights I listed where said fighters outmuscled Holyfield on several occasions.

The hell?? I literally just said all that. Man can you read??

Did you or did you not list Tyson as stronger than Holyfield? I pointed out that he wasn’t and you moved the goalposts by trying to say he only was because he was roided up. So ****ing what? As if Tyson wasn’t roided as well!! Holyfield muscled Tyson all over the ring, deal with it.

And Lewis and Bowe should be stronger than Evander. They were both 30+lbs heavier. They still certainly didn’t monster Holyfield like George did nor like Holyfield himself roughed up and out muscled Tyson.

You are correct about everything but assuming absent evidence that Tyson was juicing.
He could have, but with the endless confessions by him & all close to him that never came out, & he was a relative hulk as as a poor, unknown untrained 13 year old.
Please do not cherry-pick anyway general arguments about why many use PEDs.
That would be me listing all the disadvantages, professional & personal risks, & assuming noboy ever not caught used.
None of that would be specific, rational evidence.

I know it’s not his style of fighting, but do you think Buster could have turned the fight against Holyfield into a mauling affair and outmuscle him in the clinches? Could he have potentially found some success with this tactic?

Good lord. Dude, all you have to go is READ and you'd have seen I said Holyfield was strong enough to push Tyson back when they fought. How hard is it to misunderstand something written so clearly? Are your reading comprehension skills THAT poor??? If so you need to enroll in a class somewhere because no one can be that illiterate and function in the real world.

I'm not sure what your trying to argue by pointing out something I already said.

Again, everything you said is stuff I pointed out previously.

You know, I'm convinced at this point you don't even know what your arguing about and are just looking to argue for the sake of doing it. I mean every response you've given shows your 'points' are just stolen from mines, thus we are arguing the same thing although you don't seem bright enough to understand that.

Retract your initial comment that Tyson was a stronger fighter than Holyfield which he clearly wasn’t which you’re now admitting and we’ll be fine.

My reading comprehension is good enough and I can spot obfuscation and backpedaling a mile off which you’re delivering a master class in right now.

This claim by you is the crux of this rubbish debate. You said Tyson was stronger than Holyfield here did you or did you not? I pointed out he wasn’t based on their two bouts. I understood this and rebutted it. You trying to gaslight me with all this other drivel doesn’t work and is stupid in a simple debate about boxing and who was physically stronger. You can carry on all you want but I’m done with this.

You do realize Holyfield is older than Tyson? So if you believe Tyson was faded by the time he fought Holyfield then Holyfield was also faded. Tyson was always easy to push around the ring and tie up.

And Holyfield still stayed around in the championship contendership longer despite his age. Again, him bulking up significantly helped him in handling Tyson.

Cute story, what does that have to do with my point? If Tyson was past his prime against Holyfield then Evander was past his prime against Tyson. Just because Holyfield manage to have good fights after he beat Tyson doesn't mean he wasn't past his prime.

What did Tyson do post their series that was as significant as Holyfield retaining his titles? Get his ass whipped by Lewis in a fight he only got bcuz of his name value? At least Holyfield was a champion prior to facing Lewis.

Holyfield accomplished more than Tyson despite the fact both were past their primes because Holyfield worked harder and was the better fighter. The fact Tyson didn't accomplish that much after the Hoylfield losses doesn't change the fact Hoylfield was older than Tyson and had a much rougher career.

The closest we come to some evidence against him is that he has admitted cheating at doping tests, but to not get caught for pot.

He was 5 lbs heavier against Tyson in 1996 than he was in the fight in 1991 that was meant to be against Tyson. Five pounds is a quite typical weight gain from the age of 29 to 34. Tyson himself weighed in at his career heaviest at 222, so the weight difference was probably the same as it would have been in 1991.
