So, as it asks, who's the hardest hitter, that Floyd Patterson (at his best) defeat s?

It's a risky one for Floyd imo. But winnable, depends on How confident as well Floyd is.

Floyd was never less than extremely confident. He even sought a third fight with Sonny Liston. He was confident in his own abilities to the point of fault.

He was the world's heavyweight champion.

See your point about him not being afraid to fight a guy, but I mean him getting hit by Shavers best shots, can affect a fighter in the ring.

Well if he gets hit with Earnie's best punches he will have a consciousness problem, not a confidence problem.

I could see Patterson outboxing Lyle, Shavers, although both would be dangerous for Patterson especially Shavers early on.

    This is a great question.

Shavers is a bit of a tight rope but Floyd def. has a good chance of getting to the other side.

Come to think of it, if Floyd’s era came a few years later, he might well have enjoyed some victories over several name fighters of the 70s - Shavers, Lyle etc. Not a lock imo but still a very good chance.

I think he could beat Young also - not that it would be a crowd pleaser though and after the fight Young would of course complain that he was robbed.

Sorry, I’m getting my Floyd on.

Shavers is a good shout. Could also see him beating Cooney.

I agree. Cooney would've likely flattened a 1972 Patterson which is the only version he'd step in the ring with.
