Over the years there has been a depth of talent at Welterweight as well as the fact Mayweather has only ever fought 12 rounders, some great fighters and a few I’d pick certainly to have beat him especially over the 15 round distance tbh .

Floyd is disliked by many, and rightfully so, for doing unscrupulous things outside the ring to give himself an advantage inside the ring. Some people will call it smart, some people will call it the nature of boxing, but it will turn a lot of folks away.

That said, he has a great resume and an undeniably great skillset. There could've been a few more names at the right place and the right time, yes.

Gun to my head, if I'm told to choose ONE welterweight to win a fight against some other historical welterweight, I'm going to say Mayweather. This isn't a perfect measure of greatness, but it's how I choose to define it.

I doubt he'd even sign to fight Hearns. He'd probably pull a variation of Canelo's "I don't want to fight Mexicans" and say he doesn't want to fight Hearns because they're both from Michigan.

His WW resume is very padded when you look at it. His signature win is over a career super featherweight in Marquez and even then he did it at a catchweight and still willfully ignored the catchweight. He beat Hatton (2 WW fights his entire career) and then I guess take your pick over a faded Pacquiao or old man Mosely.
Under 147 he was a force to be reckoned with and on par with anyone, but at 147 he was all smoke and mirrors.

If Mosley had him shaken to his boots, Hearns hits him could be lights out.

WW is arguably the deepest and best division in boxing in the history. Not no but hell no.

Floyd does not even make the top five at welterweight.

    Armstrong
    Robinson
    Griffith
    Mclarnin
    Leonard
