That was a great night for hw boxing. The Ruiz golota rumble, the Chris Byrd Jameel mccline show down hell of a scrap, Evander being outclassed by Larry the legend Donald, and Rahman being knothugged by HBO crew while he knocked out Kali meehan. I can't remember who else was on the card lol.

Yes, some of them were really good fights.

hard to believe Holyfield was considered well past fighting age back then, and yet he continued for many years past that…

Australian (?) Kali Meehan was coming in as a good fighter that seemed to have world level potential…..

As far as having a definitive heavyweight champion, that was a dismal era, with the titles scattered
McCline and Byrd was a good fight…. And Ruiz delivered what was expected oh him!!

Meehan is NZ I think, but his sons fight in Australia. It's a pity Willis Meehan isn't more active.

Rahman absolutely steamrolled Meehan that night. Made him look like a D level fighter.

Danny Williams sparked Meehan too years ago.

Man where does time go? I was a teenager back then and now I'm nearly 40.

The worst era in boxing history, none of these guys would be champ today.

Same. I’m 37. Feels like yesterday I was watching HBO fights every couple weekends.

If Don King was just a bit more dishonest and corrupt he'd qualify for Congress.

and yet, there they were actually fighting each other on a card packed with relevant competitive fights.
We should be so lucky today.

I’m amazed that people refer to as the “weak” decade that the Klitschkos ran the division

look at what was what they inherited……. and took over…… and they certainly cleaned it up, entirely, amongst the two of them

when Don King had all the titles, there were no heavyweight unifications, of any kind
