Williamson is going to wreck Josh today, just so no one is surprised.

Really good main event this one. Much better than the turd they're selling for Saturday.

Not impressed by both guys so far. Kelly should win the early rounds but he'll probably fade down the stretch and gets outworked in the second half and maybe even stopped late. But he's dangerous early on. People probably forgot about the fact that he hurt Avenasyan early on (i think it was in Round 2). He can hurt Williamson as well.

Shocked people are picking Williamson. He would get slept vs Avanesyan if they fought and looked mediocre his last 2 fights. Kelly if he performs to the best of his ability should win this possibly by stoppage.

Even watching live, though Smith played it up in his typical homer fashion, I didn't believe Avanesyan was hurt. Perhaps slightly stunned, but I think balance was the key factor in his momentary unsteadiness, being caught square coming out of a clinch, and the intensity of Kelly's excited follow-up barrage pushed him back to the ropes and created the impression that he was more bothered by the initial left hook than he actually was.

Williamson isn't invulnerable, but Kelly wasn't even a hitter at 147, much less 154, so I'd be surprised if he puts a significant dent in Troy. He'd be better off to not load up on his punches early, because he's much likelier to find himself needing to last through the deep waters than he is to get Troy out of there inside the first half.

People are picking Williamson because he's naturally bigger, has pretty heavy hands, has shown better conditioning than Kelly, appears to be tougher and to possess more desire than Kelly.

Josh has a lot to prove here. Needs a big performance.

Yet Kelly appears to be on another level skillwise which I think will prove the difference.

He's more of a boxer-athlete than a pure technician. Lots of speed and flash, but I haven't seen that deep of a skillset from him.

I agree that Troy isn't as sophisticated an offensive machine as Avanesyan, but he might not have to be, considering the physical advantages he possesses at the weight and the intangible factors.

Both a little bit unconvincing this year but the style match-up doesn't favor Kelly in a world where he is at a conditioning disadvantage.

Scratch this... not saying Williamson won't win, but... I can't shake that absymal performance against a former featherfisted Welterweight in Mason Cartwright. He was out on his feet for the majority of the 2nd round, after getting dropped. Not to mention out on his feet at least 3 or 4 times against Cheeseman. He got a bit of a gift against Cartwright and Cheeseman was just in one war too many. Kelly is taller than Cartwright, probably hits harder than Cartwright and is definitely several mph faster than Cartwright, and Josh really loves inside hooks and uppercuts, the same kind of shots Cartwright hurt Williamson with. The more I think about it... I'm not sure this gets to the second half for Williamson to come on strong it.

This is what Scott might be overlooking. Kelly fades, and badly.

Troy has been poor in 2022. But he'd looked flat in bouts prior to Cheeseman, only to turn up for the bigger occasion. One has to think he'll be bringing his best to this dance.
