Think it’s quite a few reasons why it hasn’t sold: 1 - England playing 2 - Lack of promotion - Warrington hasn’t been his usual self and Leeds haven’t really promoted it this time. Plus no Leeds matches so word of mouth haven’t really been there or group of lads who go to football haven’t been saying to their mates “you coming to Josh’s fight?” Which normally happens. 3 - Boxing fatigue - every fight is his last at the arena. 4 - Time of year/cost of living crisis 5 - Not fighting a name If England go out then the atmosphere will be horrific. And about 25% of those who have bought tickets won’t even bother going into the arena.
A Drug cheat who he had already beat in one of the worst world title fights ever. After getting kod by lara and kid ducking the kiko rematch ( was talking unification pre kiko fight no talk of moving up) Made sense to go back for the ibf with an easy sell against a fighter who comes to win.
It’s obvious that almost every show is taking place in front of extremely disappointing crowds. Wood Conlan sold out but that was a good matchup and was one of the fights of the year. Things aren’t going to get better as far as cost of living is concerned. Are promoters going to start making better fights ? Are boxers going to take those fights? Are they also going to realise that Smith v Eubank is not PPV and everyone starts to get paid their worth ?
All the London shows can't have helped for those attendances, seems like every weekend there is a show in London. Think promoter will need to exploit more local venues. Seen Sam Noakes wants there to be a maidstone show, even if it is a small venue. Sell that out on the back of the Noakes brother, McCann etc. The people going there will be more likely to pay when they go to a bigger arena as an undercard fighter
I've no idea, but I would assume on the finances for JW, the purses would be on the assumption it will be a sell-out?
It’s 2 weeks before Christmas, people are skint and it’s England v France on the same day. If he’s done 8k that’s very good in the circumstances
Which other than Anthony Joshua. Who else sells more in Matchrooms stable? Benn against Eubank obviously but other than that?
I actually agree. 8000 paying spectators is a nice number in these times when so many people are struggling to get food on the table.
That's true. I haven't seen or heard anything from Warrington for the last 3 - 4 weeks. He usually always does a lot of PR work, but not this time. Strange.
He’ll never admit it, but Eddie 100% believed the views were all due to him and his events and completely overlooked how much Sky pushed it on their platform
