Jermaine Franklin as a future HW prospect

Compare him to Kabayel. Ok skills, durable, pillow fisted and limited

 

Probably a good comparison in fairness.

 

Not that impressive really. Does not move well, is pretty stationary. Very basic in punch selection. Takes a good punch. I could see him breaking the top ten someday.

 

I saw the Whyte fight differently than many. I thought he beat Franklin closely but clearly. Franklin is a low output, small dude (relatively speaking) with no particular skill set. Fury, Usyk, Wilder, Joshua and even Andy Ruiz have no problem with him.

 

Could see him opening up a restaurant with James Toney. He's a gluttonous foe indeed.

 

This is why we need all these heavyweights fighting each other as styles make fights and they can make names for themselves. Franklin needs to fight another top 30/40 guys next like Kabayel.

 

I saw the same. I'm not optimistic about him at all and the closeness of the fight was on Whyte being in poor form, but there was the odd flash of technicality from Franklin that has me a little curious.

Kind of like Andy Ruiz, except Ruiz flashed more and Ruiz's floor between flashes is much higher.

Just being in the group who faced Whyte without getting KO'd is nothing to sneeze at. Carlos Takam and Jerry Forrest can't go on forever.

 

He's Whyte's level now and is on an upward trajectory if he keeps his head on straight.

 

He'd be a good fight for someone like Parker, Dubois, Chisora or even Hughie. Would get demolished by anyone in the top 5.
