Every title fight should be 15 rounds! They shortened them to 12 rds because of the Mancini-Kim fight. What if that fight had gone only 3 rounds with the same results....would title fights be 2 rounds?....

That fight and to time were the major reasons. How about unification or unified/undisputed title fights. Separate alphabet fights from true title fights. Dreaming maybe but just a thought.

INHO, if the first fight of the two alone was scheduled for 15, there would have NEVER had been a rematch in September 1927...or at any other time, for that matter. I have always believed that Tunney would have delivered a monumentally profound, career ending" beating on Dempsey IMHO...with no "10th round bell" to pull his fat out of the fire. I think that those 5 extra rounds of punishment would have been significant, in that Tunney would have seen to it that those rounds would have been fought to their maximum advantage for himself. Heavy damage would have been meted out to Dempsey (especially to the eyes of Dempsey by Tunney). I don't think that a stoppage would have been "out of line" at all.
