I found Jeffries did fight in France . It was a KO 1 over Lablahe. You have to dig into the local papers in the UK, Ireland and France to get the stories if these times. Such local matches are not reported in the USA press, I think. He also fought english men Wolfe Bendoff the Heavyweight champ of England in London, presumably its in the English press.
Jack Jeffries boxed exhibitions in the UK and France under the names Jack Dunkhorst and Ed Dunkhorst. Adam Pollack in his biography of Jeffries lists Jeffries exhibitions in the UK and France including places and dates Jeffries had NO fights in the UK and NONE in France. Jim Jeffries also boxed exhibitions in the UK with; George Chrisp Jack Scales Arthur Morris Wolf [Woolf] Bendoff Billed as The Champion Of Africa lol Bendoff was White. On the bill with Bendoff was Jack Dunkhorst ,[Jeffries] billed as the ex heavyweight champion of America ,this was in London August the 14th1899 , and August 22nd Bendoff was 44years old when he boxed those 2 exhibitions with Jeffries Bendoff variously claimed to have been World Heavyweight champion and British Heavyweight champion ,in reality, he was never champion of anywhere! Cyber Boxing Zone -- Wolf Bendoff Jeffries had his last recorded exhibition in the UK at the London Royal Acquarium on August 29th of 1899,he had been boxing exhibitions nightly there. Jeffries fought exhibitions with his Brother in France and also some locals ,he had NO fights in France. Jeffries exhibition tour began when he left the US on July 27th1899 and was completed when he arrived in Boston Sep 22nd 1899 Pollack states that Jeffries claimed he toured Ireland,Scotland and Wales too ,but no confirmation of any exhibitions there has ever been forth coming. In passing I'd like to say, in my experience no boxing author does more diligent research than Adam Pollack and ,if he has been unable to unearth more info ,it's a pretty good bet such info does not exist.
I agree, it's hard to figure who'd have won a prime Jeffries or a prime Johnson. If Jeffries did manage to win , I believe he'd have absorbed a tremendous amount of punishment to get to Jack Johnson though. A gun to my head? I'd go Johnson.
Some further info on Jeffries exhibitions in France. Jack Jeffries Paris, Fr EX 4 M. LaBlahe Paris, Fr EX Jack Scales Paris, Fr EX 4 Scales sparred with Jeffries in the UK and traveled with him to France to box an exhibition with him there. Here is Scales. BoxRec: Jack Scales ps I don't know why anyone would find it necessary to read old French newspapers to find the LaBlahe exhibition, the info is freely avaialable on CBZ. La Blahe does not appear in the French directory of fighters, nor is he listed on Box Rec , so I think it safe to assume he was just some local man.
I went through all the available on-line papers for Britain and Ireland, he boxed exhibitions only and as stated. He was challenged in Ireland but deemed his prospective opponent to be too small, I seem to recall that something similar occured in England. He did also go on tour to Scotland. For certain, no fights in Europe for Jeffries.
Really? I found he did Ko Lablahe in France in one round. Tickets were sold. Maybe European records are rather thin. What was too small the men for the men in England and Scotland. Like below 170?
As we know from many exhibitions, including not a few of Joe Louis' ,stopping a sparring partner in an exhibition does not alter /change that exhibition into a real boxing match. The fact that La Blahe has no identifiable record in the French Register Of Boxers, nor on Box Rec ,CBZ , Boxing World or the Ring Boxing Register tells us he was a local scrub ,a body produced for 4 rds of sparring.Tickets for such an event would naturally be sold,no world champion on an overseas exhibition tour is giving these exhibitions for free ,unless its for a designated charity . Anyone believing he knows more about Jim Jeffries than his biographer Adam Pollack is ,imo suffering from delusions of granduer, that would also apply to anyone assuming they are better informed on that era than yourself imo.

Sparring was rough stuff with cameras and writers around in my clans day as it effected the gate if Langford was taking skulls in training the public would show up to watch the butchery!
The clip of Jeffries was training with his brother Jack for the Ruhlin fight , in no footage of their actual fight did Jeffries move like that,he advanced doggedly with his left at waist height.
I met Jim Jeffries in 48 when he shadow boxed the flicker of what your describing still hung around he was less friendly then Johnson
Jeffries was never very congenial ,reporters often described him as having the demeanour of a bear with a sore head.
Inaccurate posts and agenda? You posted the full version of Johnson Flynn as if YOU discovered it. Indeed you stole it off of my posts on *******. McVey however gave me immediate credit. So who is inaccurate? Who is untrustworthy?
Jeff told me himself the greatest fighter he saw was Benny Leonard on film something not many people know is he kept a huge collection of film he had footage of even Harry Wills shelved which I never saw I didn’t know who wills was fighting also and many black fighters he didn’t like them but he liked good boxing
