If we work across different weight classes, then Charles is definitely in there.

If we assess him purely as a heavyweight however, then he is not in the argument here.

Depends how we define ducking. He made more to beat Marvis Frazier than he would have had vs. Page and then Page came in heavy against Witherspoon.

You could be right, but check Shavers' wins over Ruddock.

Maybe a better question is: what good does it do to talk **** about ANYone's resume?

They were all champs, they at one point dominated the division...

I see you’re a new member. There are plenty of old threads here which break down is failure to face some of his mandatories, being stripped of his WBC title, etc

Bottom line is Larry could beat just about any Heavyweight in his prime. Only Heavyweights I give a shot are Ali- although I lean toward Larry in this. And young or old Foreman. He would have to catch Larry though. And don’t say Shavers hit harder cause the thing with George is if he hurt you he new how to finish you. I don’t see any other heavy really having a shot against a prime time motivated Larry

He never got around to fighting Pinklon Thomas or Gerrie Coetzee either. Nor did he rematch weaver or Witherspoon after they both gave him tough fights then went on to have success afterwards. Now granted I think he was a great champion for other reasons. But he’s gotten plenty of flack for who he either fought or didn’t fight

I'm confused about whether your suggesting that Holmes' resume was crap or that his resume was good? Your opening comment is ambiguous to me.

Holmes fought who he had to when he had to. The only man missing from his resume where he swerved was Pink Thomas at the end of his undefeated reign. I'm positive he faces Pink if he had to. Who wins that one in 1985 is anyone's guess but that jab battle might've gone down as the greatest jab battle in heavyweight history.

Holmes in his prime doesn't lose to many as he sits #3 in my ATG and H2H heavyweight rankings. The only man I favor over Holmes is Mike Tyson, or at least even money. Ali, Louis, Liston, Bowe, Lennox, Foreman all give him hell but I like Holmes more often than not against that bunch.

    Hi Buddy.
I agree he could beat " just about any HW " but disagree that there isn't any HW that has a shot against Larry, I would give Lennox Lewis at least an even chance of beating Holmes, the Lewis of the Tua fight, fully focused, and with steward in his corner, would give Larry a problem to solve IMO, very few HWs would be able to boss LL , his solid jab, and concussive right cross spelt danger for everyone, for me it's a 50/50 type fight, also pretty much a distance fight, both brave and proud fighters, that lack nothing in courage.
    stay safe buddy.
