Inoue: 6-0 vs bantam champs, KOing everyone he fought at bantam.

Inoue's record at bantam is 9-0, starting with a win over multi-time champion McDonnell in the super series up until he became undisputed vs Butler. He knocked out every single person he fought at the weight, and only definitively lost two rounds (though one could reasonably argue he lost up to 5 total). With Moloney and Rodriguez remaining as top contenders in the weight class, it seems very possible that Inoue's bantam legacy will continue to expand. Definitively a top 5 bantam for me now in terms of greatness. His dominance and # of champs beaten at the weight balance out the fact there weren't any ATGs besides Donaire at the weight at the time he competed there.

 

15 KDs along the way, too. Zero close fights. Zero controversial decisions. And the only bad night of his career was 2 or 3 rounds in the first Nonito fight.

Inoue has been the most dominant athlete in professional sports since he turned pro.

130 is his absolute celling, methinks.

It could happen, but likely Loma would be at least 36. He could definitely cut to 126, and Inoue can definitely get to 126. It's just a matter of promoters making it happen, which they won't.

 

Not at that age, as he said in his interview, he would make 130 if there are belts on the line, but not lower than that.

I don't know if he could get top 5 just yet,,,he does carry great power but 118 is a deep division historically and there's so many greats there that it'd take more than that to beat them. I recall Alphonso Zamora was wrecking guys like a drunk driver at 3am before he ran into the Big Z .

 

If he beats Fulton and Murod in the same fashion, there really can't be any argument against Inoue being #1 P4P and a top 30 ATG.

 

Inoue is a very impressive fighter who looks like he would be competitive with virtually anyone all-time. But isn't this cooking the books a bit? McDonnell isn't really a "multi-time champion", as his WBA belt was the secondary version. From what I recall, not everyone was convinced that McDonnell beat Ceja for his first belt, either. There are also more alphabet champions than ever, so beating one isn't a standout achievement on its own. After all, Paul Butler would be little more than a European champion at best in bygone eras. The collective group of Rodriguez, Moloney, Donaire, Payano, and McDonnell are a solid group, but when you strip away the shiny hardware and boil it down to their talent (as should be done), I'm not sure Inoue belongs in the same company as Jofre, Harada, Olivares, etc., legacy wise.

He looked pretty good against a 100-1 underdog email champ. He sure didn't look like p4p #1 given the level of opponent he just squared off against and how close a 39 year old Donaire ran him.
