Derek never had skills. He’s a fat plodder just like Whyte. When Fury beat him his record was 20-5, losing 1 in every 4 fights isn’t the sign of someone with skills. Whyte at least has beaten Chisora twice with one win by KO.

True but Chisora had fought at a better level than Whyte. Chisora 1 is closer to how Whyte was in the AJ fight. Chisora 2 is a better win.

A TKO win against Wlad or a draw against Wilder is no contest. The fact that you call Wilder an active prime belt holder as some kind of yardstick is ridiculous, the guy was fighting the likes of Spillka and Washington whilst champion so being active is no achievement. His best defences are against 90year old Ortiz.

So this debate has started again…

I’m going Fury on the basis that he fought Wilder 3 times and a much fresher and younger Klitschko

AJ has a good resume but there’s no standout win against an A+ plus boxer so definitely Fury at the moment

Fury's record is head and shoulders above Joshua's. He has more wins, more top level wins, zero losses and has won big matches in America. The "Joshua has more top 10 wins" is the most desperately funny argument in boxing.

@Redbeard7 is the man capable of providing the best breakdown.

Beating an overrated puncher three times doesnt mean jack. I will aways struggle to name Wilders best opponents.

Beat a Whyte who Josh leathered years back. Beat the shottest version of Del we have ever seen. Then there's Wallin, Schwarz... kind of opponents Haye was fighting on Dave.

We don’t yet know whether Wilder is overrated or not, based on recent performance against Helenius I’d say he’s pretty dangerous.

The problem I have with AJ is him not stepping up and fighting high level opposition, it’s 2022 and he still hasn’t fought Wilder or Fury and he’s the only common denominator in this equation so by the basis of elimination he has to be the problem.

I’m not a Fury, Wilder or AJ fan btw so I have no dog in this fight

Sensible post. The facts we do have are that Fury is rated top, or equal-top just now, and Wilder gave him big problems twice out of three.

Until Usyk and AJ fight Wilder and/or Fury then that's really all we've got to go on; the resume argument is completely pointless.

Agreed, but I only think we’ll get Fury Usyk maybe I don’t see AJ fighting anyone of note for the next year at least.
    I hope I’m wrong

Wilder is 40 fights in. We know his level. Please stop.

So AJ hasn't faced high opposition (Usyk in his last two), yet Helenius is dangerous? This forum needs a cull.

Misquoted he hasn’t beat higher level opposition, if we were to argue people he’s faced rather then beat we’d have to put Chisora in the argument for best heavyweight resume too.

Don't talk nonsense. We know Wilder's level from who he's chosen to fight - somewhere between top level gatekeeper and elite. How near to elite, we won't know until he's fought other people.

It's possible to say Usyk and Fury are elite because they're unbeaten and beat the established champions more than once, and others form a line below them. It's not possible to factually say anything else.

So how many more fights does Wilder need in order for you to have an opinion on him?
