Both had a strong 2022 to get them into contention. Ben Shalom says both will get world title shots next year. But not confirmed against who.

I think Billam-Smith beats Makabu, would be underdog against Opetaia but could pull it off in a close fight with home advantage in Bournemouth, and loses to Goulamarian. He won't fight Okolie cause he's his stablemate.

I think Riakporhe KO's Makabu, but loses to Okolie, Goulamarian and Opetaia.

I make you right, but what a weak division cruiser is these days!

Billam-Smith is a strange one. I thought he was poor the other night, however flashy the final knock-down. He seems to serially underperform, his shot selection seems off, unless he's boxing to some kind of Shane McGuigan game plan that I'm too dense to work out.

Riakporhe looks the part but even against the carefully selected opposition he's not all that impressive.

Anyway, I think both of them are a level below the improving Okolie and lucky that Sky have had to start from scratch and picked the Cruiserweight division to focus on.

Think you're right on all of that, not that I know that much about Opetiaia. It feels like Makabu has been around forever so surely there's a race on to get to him and the belt he holds?

yeah he's the weakest out of the belt holders atm. I think he's there for the taking. Apparently he got a gift in his last fight against Mchunu.

I agree. 3-4 years ago the division was the mustard as well.

doesnt look like shalom will even deliver them world title shots this year now despite them being really highly ranked

makabu is facing Badou Jack. & Opetaia is fighting Masternak

Ben’s got no choice but to make one vs okolie. No excuse not to make it and Sky can’t go another year putting xhoxhaj and turchi headliners on.

and there’s not many lower risk glowacki type fights left in the division. If they put one in with breidis for instance and the way lose. They lose all value to them as the all British fights are where the money is.
