I don't think anyone with argue that Nicolino Locche's out of the ring behavior was exemplary, and he covered Argentina with glory.

My first impression of an Argentine boxer was watching Juan Domingo Roldan knock Frank the Animal Fletcher out of the ring in 1984.

Jack Dempsey vs Luís Firpo - Boxing was forbidden in Argentina at the time, so when Firpo became a big name the politicians decided it would be a good move to legalize the sport, politicians at its best.

Justo Suarez vs Julio Mocoroa - marks the beggining of the first maybe the greatest idol of argentine boxing , Suarez was managed by Pepe Lectoure, the guy that created Luna Park btw. But this fight was in the River Plate’s stadium, and some say there was 80 thousand people there, so you get the picture.

Alfredo Prada vs José Maria Gatica II - biggest rivalry in south american Boxing ever, there is a whole huge story here, it could fill a book, but the second fight between them is the biggest fight in Luna Park history, if you don’t believe me go look it up.

Pascual Perez vs Ioshio Shirai II - I’m not sure if it’s a known fact for most, but their first fight was fixed, Shirai only agreed to fight Perez if he got a “pre result”, so Perez could not throw power punches and if Perez deserved a win on points the fight would be a draw. It was a draw because Perez dominated.
They agreed on a “rematch” (with the help of politicians, the consul of Argentina in Japan got involved even) but of course in Japan but there is a trick that the japanese put on us south americans, they like to set the fights against us in the winter! That happened with Miguel de Oliveira when they gave him the rematch against Wajima. The japonese cold, they say is terrible, so much so that Perez got a bad flu in there. (Even though Perez was mendocino and used with coldness) anyway, since Perez had huge support from the governement, there was no school or work for nobody that morning, and Perez won (I read that Perón made sure Perez was not robbed)

Carlos Monzon vs Rodrigo Valdez I or II - people from outside I guess don’t know but Monzon was not a big name in Argentina (he was not an attraction in Luna Park) in the beggining, he had not many fans, so the first Benvenutti fight was showed live but nobody knew who Monzon was, so I wouldnt call that fight big.

Nicolino Locche vs Paul Fuji - Locche was viewed with reservations by the public and some actual boxing people in Argentina (even if the mendocinos accepted him more, his defensive style I mean) this fight marks the final and total acceptance of his style by the what I call the "argentine school of boxing" though.

Ali vs Ringo Bonavena -sure, right ?
Roña Castro vs John David Jackson - you know the story I guess
Juan Martin Coggi vs Eder Gonzalez (bull**** fight, you gotta see to believe it)
Victor Galindez vs Richie Kates I (same day Bonavena was murdered, Galindez and Bonavena were friends, his staff knew it but let Galindez fight and he won and in the lockeroom they told him that Ringo was dead)

More recently, Martinez vs Chavez Jr was big, big viewership, Mayweather vs Maidana I too.
