I don't think Lomachenko is past prime, though. He's just too small for Haney. Sorry ass Teofiomo Lopez had him hesitating until he finally figured it out (too late).
Loma’s body attack is underrated too. Let’s hope they have a ref that won’t let Haney hug the whole fight.
I wouldn’t say Loma is “Way” past prime but given his style that relies a lot on reflexes and speed… I’d say Loma’s best days were 24-30 years old. Loma isn’t at his best but he’s still elite level. Since this will be such a big fight for Loma, I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people in this fight including Haney and his dad Loma by comfortable decision.
Not sure what's funny about that. He clearly isn't the same fighter he once was, struggling heavily against Jamaine Ortiz shows that. And if you go through my post history you'll see I clearly am not a fan of Loma at all, so it's not like I have an angle here. I'm just calling it how I see it.
I guess I’m kinda in between. I definitely don’t feel Vasyl is “Way” past prime but you gotta admit… these past three years he is getting hit with shots he didn’t used to get hit with. But at the same time, I haven’t lost faith in his ability to beat ANY top guy at 135 on a good night. If Haney wins this one then hey… tip the cap to him. But I think Loma has a couple more showtime performances left in him I just wish Loma would’ve stayed at 130 and reigned there. Built up the title defenses there. He’s a much more natural 130 guy. But I might be in the minority thinking that
Loma will go down in history as the substantially better fighter, p4p. At this stage, at LW, I'll go as far to say as Haney points is obviously the most likely outcome.
I don't think that's a crazy claim. Mayweather, Azumah Nelson, Pacquiao, Alexis Arguello and Julio Cesar Chavez. Loma faces tough competition for that claim, but for a relatively brief time he was good enough to be in that discussion, imo.
Loma isn't the same Loma from yesteryear, he's clearly lost a step and Haney is barely reaching his prime. I think Haney pulls out a close decision using his jab to control Lomas range and clinching when he needs to. It won't be easy, but it can be achieved.
I have Haney winning this one by comfortable decision. That being said, the only thing comfortable for Haney will be the score. I figure he'll win about 8 of the 12 rounds but that Lomachenko will force him to work hard to win every round. In the end, Haney's reach and jab combined with Loma being a bit less than what he once was will be enough to win the fight for The Dream.
A bigger meltdown will be if Loma wins - cause Haney has a lot of LDBC type fans on here, they'll be crying.
Can't see Plant beating Benavidez but everything else i agree on, everything is against Loma in this one too, hope he takes it to another level for this fight this one time.
