I really struggle with this one. I think Smith does almost everything better than Eubank but there's probably not loads in it. Smith has better punch selection, better variety, I think his Stamina is better and he's more accurate but Eubank is that bit bigger and that could be the equaliser for him in the fight. If Eubank fights to his best I think he likely wins but I wouldn't be surprised if Smith won it on points. So I'll say Eubank points. If he fights like he did later in the Williams fight he gets beaten.
Eubank, Smith's the better all rounder but he has quite a physical style and high guard which might play into Eubank's hands who does well against aggressive opponents. Liam's also smaller and honestly I think he's over the hill, thought it was evident the way he was getting tagged VS Fowler and Vargas.
It is a tough pick. I lean towards Eubank in a close UD as I think he has the better conditioning and I think Smith can fight with emotion and not stick to the plan. I think Smith does do more things better than Eubank. Looking forward to watching this one though. Tough to call
I think Liam wins. Smith is a good all rounder who can adapt as the fight goes on. He can fight and he can box. He is also very tough, like Eubank. With that said, it’s a close call. I favour Smith as he seems a better all rounder. Great domestic match up that will be a cracking fight regardless.
Eubank Jr. narrow victory on points. Could easily lead to another fight between the two. If Eubank Jr. wins relatively clearly, then we get Eubank Jr. vs Golovkin this fall.
Smith is going to meet him head on with his usual compact high guard so can see Eubank having the time to pick his shots and possibly wear him down late.points or late stoppage Eubank for me.
Really looking forward to this, it's an interesting one that has all the makings to be a cracker. Smith is fundamentally very sound and whilst I've seen a lot of people refer to him as "basic", he does the basics very well. Shot selection to head and body has always been class. Then he has that gritty toughness to go with it. Smith does quite often start slow though and has to build into fights so I expect Eubank to look very sharp early on. I think with Smith's high guard that we'll see Eubank tee'ing off on him at times. The sparring rumour, and why Smith and his camp whilst not delving into the sparring but reiterating that they take a lot of confidence from that spar, is that Smith put Eubank over with a body shot many years back so fully expect Smith to be targeting the body. That all said, whilst I want Beefy to have his hand raised my head says that Eubank wins.
I'm struggling to call it if I'm honest, which is why it should be an interesting match up. Part of thinks Smith has a few to many miles on the clock at this stage in his career and will needs to be patient coming forward as Junior has the power hurt Smith. Another thing to consider is Eubank hasn't fought in a year and boiled himself down to his skeleton for the Benn fight recently, which may have an effect on his fitness. I'm leaning towards a Eubank stoppage, but I'm not confident on that.
Damn, how many accounts do you have on this forum, sad act. I really like both fighters, Smith is a warrior. Reckon Eubank will win by a close decision though. Will be happy whoever wins this as like I said, big fan of both fighters. Definitely ain't going to be betting on this one that's for sure.
I'll be the first to admit I've been terrible with some of my predictions. I always root for the underdog most of the time and it comes back to bite me. Doesn't bother me in the slightest though! Like I said I don't mind who wins this one, I'm expecting a cracking fight and I'm looking forward to it.
Too tight to call. I can make valid fight winning reasons for both. I am just going to enjoy the spectacle with a pint of Guinness in my hand. May the best man, on the night, win.
Eubank will win comfortably. Smith is a solid fighter but he’s too basic for a guy like Eubank. Eubank is a much harder, tougher, resilient fighter than Fowler with much better punch resistance as well so there’s no chance of Smith grinding Eubank down like he did Fowler. If Groves couldn’t knock out Eubank, Smith isn’t going to come close to doing it. Eubank the better athlete and boxer. He wins comfortably.
Proper excited about this fight. Eubank is the bigger man, has far less mileage on the clock, however, there's a massive amount of inactivity there as well in recent years. Smith's style means that we'll see Eubank moving backwards a lot, throwing single shots and posturing. He'll look like the show man in there whilst Smith will be walking forwards with the high guard putting the graft in. I just think that the judges will favour the showmanship (looks like he's in control) over Smith's graft over 12 rounds. Both are very tough, durable men.
