As much as I am a fan of Sam I don't see him avoiding Rocky all night long. His style in my view would actually be made to order for Marciano, Rocky hurts him mid to late rounds and stops him. If Walcott, Charles nor Moorer could surrvive then Sam won't either. I remember Joe Louis quoted as saying when asked about various hypothetical match ups containing Marciano, i.e. Dempsey among others.. Louis said "Rocky is just too strong, he so strong". thats high praise from the heavyweight goat in my eyes.
Bumpity bump bump... This matchup came to mind and thought it would be better to revive this thread than start a new one. I honestly think this would be one of the greatest bouts imaginable. And I think Sam could spark him out cold. Not saying I would bet on it but the probability is significant. That left hook Sam threw had murder all over it. And Rock could get hit with a left hook.
Barn burner of a fight. Both men could end up on the canvas. I can agree it looks like a pretty even match up, or even as though it favors Sam. But Rocky made a career out of beating guys that were supposed to beat him. I remember those years well. Often, Rocky looked like the loser, but it was his hand that was raised at the end. Sam's not better enough, IMHO, if you get my drift. Sorry Sam Langford guys, but I have to give the edge to Rocky in this one.
Very tough fight to choose! Langford would probably outbox Rocky to a decision, but I wouldn't bet on it!
