Looks like the McKean rumours were made up and false. Apparently Jermaine Franklin is the frontrunner now. It would help build the Whyte fight up so it wouldn't be a terrible opponent. I would prefer to see Joshua face Wallin because he isn't the best and it would look impressive beating him in better fashion than Fury did, but this isn't a terrible opponent.

Jermaine Defoe would put up a harder fight

Before it happens, nobody will be slating this fight because they’re ‘anti Matchroom’, it’s because it’s absolutely shyte.

I’d rather watch Joshua fight Aretha Franklin. At least then Adam Smith might come out of his sabbatical to say ‘and there’s the respect’.

Franklin doesn't seem to hit very hard because he hit Whyte clean with hooks a few times and he didn't put him down. It seems like a safe bet for Joshua.

Wasn't the whole Whyte/Franklin build up sung to the tune of the winner gets AJ? Turns out the loser gets AJ, then the winner does.

Fantastic date for this fight to be on though.

Ahh the old ‘make up a worse rumour so the eventual **** opponent doesn’t seem quite as bad’ routine

Like a lot of people here, I thought Franklin was unlucky on the cards against Whyte. On those grounds, it’s not a terrible match up. The **** take of it all, is AJ not fighting until April. Joseph Parker was bludgeoned by Joyce in September and he’s out again next weekend.

They know Whyte is their title because AJ is shot to bits.

Fury proved Whyte is very very average so if you need a PPV tune up before him then you are done.

What is worse, AJ vs Franklin on PPV or Fury vs Chisora on PPV?

Fury Chisora by far because the undercard was dreadful and we had already saw it twice before, once on terrestrial tv.

Franklin arguably beat Whyte so I don’t know why people are complaining. He’s just fought recently and will be in even better shape. It will also show us how much Joshua has left - if he destroys Franklin it either shows Joshua is still at the top of the division, or that Whyte is shot to pieces since the Povetkin loss.

Franklin is a similar opponent level to Wallin. Franklin was probably chosen because he’s American, he’s just fought in the UK against Whyte who Joshua will likely find next, and he’s not a southpaw.

Joshua was only top of the division for a short spell after the belts were taken from Fury and gifted to puddings.

Never dethroned any genuine current Champion in the ring nor shown any elite qualities while up against very poor opponents.

Every live opponent will bash up Joshua.
