A bit overstated on the numbers, but given his boxing skills too, sure it would be too much for Rocky.

Not Fury's biggest fan but this should be a straightforward affair for him.
Although Rocky was known for a chin like God give him it! I think this would be a step too far. Having said that Fury would need to careful with his lazy leaning and grabbing style that he depends on, get too close to those savage punches on the inside and it could be goodnight.

Actually for his size he is athletic .. don't confuse athleticism with body type.. the way Fury can breeze through 12 Rounds despite his huge frame is impressive.. his movement, reflexes & conditioning are excellent for a HW.. he looks sloppy in some fights but that's down to motivation , when he's on form he can out perform the best of them

With 24 hr weigh-ins, a Prime Marciano in really good shape could have very, very, comfortably boiled down to super middleweight.

    So Fury.

I’m a fan of both but let’s be realistic…Fury is too big. It’s not like Dempsey against an immobile slow hand and slow footed Willard. Fury is very athletic for such a large guy.
Someone 5’10” and around 188 against 6’9” 270 on paper is a mismatch. Rocky would have to stay on top of Fury nonstop for the entire fight. On the outside he’d be at a huge disadvantage, and on the inside he’d have all of that weight leaning on him. Look anything in life is possible but Rocky would be massively up against it.

It's just this, really, isn't it. Completely different era, totally different physiques.

It's easy to romanticise past eras. The athletes were smaller, training methods were different. I've watched Marciano fights over the years and I see an unbelivably tough slugger, usually fighting tough similarly sized opponents. Great engines but technique that I think would be considered horrible, even untutored, in the modern era. I'll get grief for saying so I'm sure.

Marciano is not a 'bit smaller' than Fury (who I have met once). Marciano is MILES smaller. I'm bigger and taller than Marciano by several suit sizes and having met Fury let me assure you there's just simply physical levels. Marciano would be rag dolled in 100 out of 100 fights, literally lifted off his feet and bundled out the ring.

People forget that athletes such as "big george" foreman - considered a one man wrecking ball - and ali stood about the size of Cunningham, Usyk, David Haye, and even someone like Derek Chisora would have been a chunky unit in this more recent 'past' era. The super heavies over the last fifteen years, Klitchkos, Fury etc would all do a number on these greats of the past. Size, athleticism, modern training, weight. The only attributes the past holds over the present - grit, not looking for a way out, mental toughness.

I'm not confused about athleticism. Even in his prime he struggled. I think he could have come in lighter, with little or no effect on his power and been a much more accomplished fighter with a resume to reflect it. Sadly all a little late now.

So Tommy Burns COULD beat Jess Willard because he probably had better skill set. Never mind that Burns was 5ft7 and Jess 6ft6. Guess you’re right. Rocky could beat the absolute crap out of Fury’s ankles for 12 rounds then even though behind on points knocks out a man 11 inches taller with a 17 inch reach advantage and 6 stone weight advantage in the 13round.

Fury gets dropped and he gets up and wins. Marciano gets dropped and he gets up and wins by KTFO. That is what Marciano getting dropped proves.
The great Muhammad Ali....said Marciano may well beat him. quite a statement. haven't there been posts on how a fight with Fury versus Ali would end? Ali was taller than Marciano also.

    Mismatch!

Prime Marciano gets inside the Irish goofball's reach and works the body like an angry wolverine to a UD

So times stood still. Let’s disregard Cruiserweight of the last 40+ years. Let’s forget that Marciano would be a small cruiserweight today never mind a heavyweight.

    Lol! Come on man…

Way different times and eras. Rocky would have most likely been a small cruiser today. Or maybe even a light heavyweight.

Rocky vs Beterbiev at a catch weight of 185. Now that’s a ****ing fight!

    Likely a slight overstatement.
At his selfon video stated best he was 187/188.
That was losing weight from his walking around weight a good 15 lbs. or so heavier.
Yes I know all about de & rehydration.
Rule of thumb is up to 10% of body weight is doable in 24 hours.

For Marciano, already lean at prime weight, this would be slightly more.
So he could do it (assuming he was not already a bit dehydrated at the late 180s)...
But it would not be so easy.

Much more comfy would be LHW.
