Exciting fighter but barely ever active

He's wasting his prime fighting bums once a year

Is there any recent news on when he'll be back?

    He fights on March 3rd.

Nowhere will grant him a visa, largely because he is Russian by nationality and current political circumstances.

That doesn't make sense about the visa. Bivol doesn't have that problem

Yep, in Yerevan on 3/3, airing on Match. Opponent still TBA, per allsportskz.

I don't expect it'll be anyone top 15 or really any good whatsoever, given his anemic schedule and this being an internationally obscure broadcast on little over a month's notice. But, at least he'll shake off some rust.

He wouldnt beat the giants, but if you put him infront of the shorter heavies, he can KO many.

Isn't that the basic strategy of most top twenty HW's? Fight a bum once a year while waiting on a payday and title shot?

Yeah, and Gassiev is still one of the younger ones, but it seems a particular waste with him. He could arguably be better at heavy because what he hits he destroys.

I was hooked since he looked like an ATG talent against Dorticos, then complete novice against Usyk, strange. Looks like now his heart isn't in it anymore
