True, but he only needed to fight until 95-96, when he'll be 29-30.
He can also mix in a few lower ranked contenders between top dogs like Lewis, Bowe

Good post! The other thing that may have stopped him reaching 50-0 is he decides to retire before reaching the mark. I kind of imagine offers of movie stardom etc would have come his way. Having said that I think too many people would have been making too much money to allow that!

True about Bowe but also look how much trouble Evander gave Bowe and prime Tyson was quicker and hit harder IMO.

You think he'd blaze through to 50-0 by 1995 or so?

Could Tyson have taken the beating that Marciano took against JJW in the title fight in '52 and come out on top? Nope! Could Tyson have had a nose split open down to the cartilage...and come back to win? Don't think so! Sonny Liston QUIT against Ali for a hell of a lot less!!! He never walked thru the fire to win a fight...he never got up off the canvas and then come back to win the fight...he never came from behind to win a fight. (Great fighters don't bite off ears in order to get DQ"d). 'Nuff said son!

Seems unrealistic since most of the 37-0 was that first 2 years of breakneck pace running through half of upstate NY's cabdrivers. This is a fighter who got his first somewhat serious fight about two years in at 19-0. He wasn't at the world title level until 27-0. So to extrapolate that forward knowing that by the end of the 1980s Tyson was on a 2-3 fight per year schedule doesn't seem likely to me.

If he stuck to a schedule of constantly fighting guys to stay busy and commited business suicide and fought for a legacy he’d not be able to hit 50-0. To keep the money train rolling and beat Marciano he could fight Foreman, Morrison, Mercer and Bowe as well as some profitable ranked guys like Tua. Easy fights that’d generate the big cash.

I’d avoid Douglas, he knew how to beat Mike simple as. A rematch might prove to be different with a good team behind Mike it’s just we are trying to stay undefeated here… Douglas would fizzle out and no one would blame Mike for not fighting him if it never happened.

Lennox Lewis he could probably catch in 90-93 in this timeline. He’d only improve on the result of Oliver McCall which was no fluke, I think team Tyson might’ve seen the same stuff as Manny did. It’d be worth good $ at the right time as Lennox had just poleaxed Ruddock and duked it out with Bruno.

In a perfect world- he’d be in top shape all the time Evander would’ve just lost to Bowe in a title eliminator and Mike had just done with Old Foreman.

He stops Bowe IMO and just finds a way to ignore Evander lol maybe Holyfield has a trilogy with Lennox after losing to Bowe? He could just “retire” for a while stay in shape and “rebuild” when he comes back- Just squash a few lower ranked guys again beat Golota, fight Rahman and Toney which would’ve been winnable by even the shot version of Tyson who could’ve fought them. Get Evander even older till it’s irrelevant? Catch Grant and Valuev in there somewhere and I think you’re golden?

That depends what you mean by surpassing Marciano's record.

He was 37-0 when he lost to Douglas, so obviously nowhere hear 49-0, and there were some dangerous dangerous men standing in his way.

Now if the 0 is not important to you, then it becomes a different question.

He was already snapping on Marciano's heels, in terms of depth of resume, when he came off the rails.

He was also younger than Marciano, on the date of his pro debut.

Had he stayed on track, then yes he would probably have surpassed Marciano, in the estimation of most level headed boxing historians.

He didn't however, and the rest is history.

If we're talking surpassing Marciano by going 50-0, then I think Holyfield or Lewis would have stopped that. If we're talking about surpassing Marciano in the all-time ratings, then what Janitor said.
