Manny was declined a painkilling injection and had surgery 5 days after the fight.

I think that it is probably unlikely. And, thank you.

I don't either. Not in the out and out sense that he posts things completely different to what he believes, in order trick others into thinking he's serious.

I suspect he posts things that are tongue in cheek, without changing his sincere posting style though.

E.g. in the Hearns vs Mayweather thread he posted "I'm the guy who changes what the majority think on this board". On that very thread he was arguing Mayweather has a chance vs Hearns. The current votes on that thread are 65 to 5 in favour of Hearns. Pretty sure that was a troll post, the lack of self awareness for it be sincere, is a stretch too far for me.

This is exactly how I read the situation.

I haven’t made my mind up on Bomber yet though.

    *elective surgery...remember "salt water?"

The injection was for Toradol (WADA banned PED, I believe). He already had the TUE for Toradol and received that in addition to Celestone (corticosteroid) and lidocaine (anesthetic). You're bitching about him not being more of a walking pharmacy than he already was.

Thanks for bringing this link to my attention. That was an interesting prediction given the one-sided nature of Hernandez's fight with Oscar. World Boxing made a big deal of the age difference and Hernandez's perceived advantage in experience.

This fight and many others have taught me that the younger boxer, particularly those with deep amateur credentials, are usually well prepared to beat the older fighter, particularly those who have one or more convincing defeats. Floyd and others already knew that he was "passing through" 130 pounds, on his way to higher weight divisions. Meanwhile, Chicanito already knew the painful reality that he could not compete at 135. Bud Crawford did the same thing at 135 and 140; Shakur Stevenson did the same thing at 130.

The fact of the matter is that Floyd was the odds-on favorite to beat Hernandez.

This thread should be: can anybody find a worse stylistic matchup for Floyd than Tommy Hearns?

I’m not bitching about anything. I’m merely saying that Manny was denied a last minute injection due to his team not filling out the forms correctly. And they had to take responsibility for that. But he had surgery the following week.

And whilst Manny’s injection had been blocked, Floyd had taken an IV which the NSAC had no knowledge of.

    Too much Floyd

If not for Tommy's chin, the pick would be Hearns but as in the SRL fight, count on his chin to let him down

Why on earth would his chin have let him down against Floyd?

Bring on the next comedy post.

everybody here always talks about Tommy's weak chin in key matchups even though these contests will never happen and I am just using the same criteria

Having just read him claiming Tyson's win over Spinks was better than Ali's win over Foreman, in the top 20 H2H thread, I've now made my mind up.

That's almost certainly a guy laughing to himself "look at these idiots, I can post the most ludicrous things, and they respond angrily believing I was serious".

Lesson learnt with that poster, for me.

I genuinely hope that he is trolling.

I always hope that for their own sakes, that these lunatics are trolling.

Just give an honest prediction on how you think they’d have matched up stylistically.

Nobody here is saying that Hearns was on another level to Floyd.

I wouldn’t mind if someone ranked Floyd higher than Hearns on an ATG list.

    This isn’t about that.

It’s not who was the best, and who was the most skilled.

It’s how they’d have matched up together on the night.

Iran Barkley was nowhere near as technically skilled as Hearns.

I personally don’t think that Hearns was better than Floyd overall.

It’s just that Hearns would have been a stylistic nightmare for him.

He didn’t have the size to outboxed him, nor the power to have stopped him.

He would have had no road to victory over a prime JMW Hearns.
