Did Cotto bleeding badly from the nose affected his stamina?

Ultimately it was Margo's punches with affected his stamina because they caused the bleeding in the first place.

It can certainly take the wind of out of you too. But regardless, Cotto just couldn't handle the pressure and his punches were having no effect on Margo

 

Theres no way a rematch lasts over 3 rounds... Cotto's knows now that his constant retreating will only tire him out and that Margo is not going to stop. His only chance is to stand toe to toe and rip shot for shot with margo hoping, to the heavens, that he can hurt him....but I doubt it.

 

I think his gameplan would be more along the lines of building his stamina in training camp to be able to move and counter the entire fight. I don't think he would be stupid enough to stand and trade with Margo

 

I think it's fair to say that P4P Ivan Calderon would absolutely school Margarito, but that's not Cotto's natural fighting style. Is that something that you would want to see Cotto do, or you honestly think he could pull off? Like we talked about before the fight - Cotto is no Pernell Whitaker/Floyd Mayweather/Willie Pep type of fighter. It was never gonna go down like that.

Cotto had two balls of medicine up his nose to try to stop the bleeding, so it definetely affected him, but my boy got beaten plain and simple and I cant wait for a rematch.

 

There's no question that the blood in his nose made it more of a struggle to breath deeply and in turn affected his stamina. However, Margarito's punches were responsible for that damage, and it wasn't some freak injury. When it comes down to it, all the damage that led to Cotto's body breaking down was the result of getting beaten up in a boxing match.

 

Yeah it did ... the dude was breathing out of his mouth for 9-10 rounds

 

Of course it did, the man was literally breathing from the mouth ever since it happened and was bleeding heavily. Not to forget that Margarito kept nailing him there, opened up a cut above his eye and just kept nailing him with more and more body shots to make it far worse. He just never gave Cotto a single second to breath or have a quick break in there, just stayed on him till he eventually broke him down as he plans to do against every opponent in every fight. The funny thing is that you know Margarito's tactic coming into a fight, it's just straight out aggression till the last round yet handling it is another story.

 

Cotto ran circles around Margarito the ENTIRE fight. You cannot maintain that type of prolonged movement, along with obvious breathing problems from the nose-bleeding, the body shots, and tiring yourself out from throwing (and connecting on) some vicious bombs.

Plus, add in the psychological affect it must have had on a guy who is a real KO guy, being able to hit his opponents with his best shots and not seemingly affect him ONE BIT!

Rematch won't be much different. Cotto will try to go to the body more, maybe even use his jab more, but he will eventually suffer the same fate.

 

Yeah, Margarito could bloody his nose again . And then Cotto could have problems with his stamina again. And then his crew could shove
vaseline up his nose to clog that ariway completely once again.
