Evaluating Yarde's career.

Just a typical cash out career really. So many domestic fights he could have had already but skipped them all to fight taxi drivers.

With a better trainer and development fights he may have gone further but we will never know now.

 

He has won the southern area, Commonwealth and WBO European to be fair. Taking the Arthur fight has gone some way to redeeming himself domestically.

 

Look who he actually "fought" for that WBO European and the Southern Area. You can throw titles at almost any fight, like we usually see with the international and intercontinental belts in the last couple of decades. It's who you actually fight for it to make it worth mentioning.

 

Not being funny but who the **** has said this?

We've got Tyson Fury, We've got Sunny Edwards, We've got Callum Smith, Liam Smith, Josh Taylor, Billy Joe, even Josh Warrington & Lawrence Okolie ffs.

 

It's strange because he's only fought very average opposition (aside from Arthur) or world class fighters in Kovalev and Beterbiev. He needs to fight a few other fringe world level fighters so we can truly assess how good he is. Based on his performance on Saturday, he's definitely a world level fighter. How many belts has he actually won aswell? European/Commonwealth?

 

He's done pretty well considering he only took up boxing late and has fought his entire pro career without a real trainer.

 

The WBO European reign was very poor, Frank had him on a great run of Hungarian club fighters although the title is not really recognised/respected here anyway. The southern area was a fair match as was the commonwealth IMO (Arthur).

Frank Warren got him 2 World Title shots without really fighting anyone beyond domestic level. This is impressive in one sense but in the other this inexperience cost him at the top level both times. A similar example is Sunny Edwards who never really fought any tough competition before challenging for a World Title, but he had the talent to succeed there and also the title holder was nowhere near as tough as Beterbiev or Kovalev away.

 

Tunde Ajayi is a chancer. x2 big pay days for him, obviously he will push Yarde to the big fights, really knowing he will lose. He will still get a nice size cut for management/trainer fees, how cant people see this? Trainer and manager dual is always a conflict of interests. If Yarde finished his career today Tunde would have had some nice paydays. Domestic level fights dont come with that ££ draw.

 

He isn’t even in the conversation.

I think the only people who push that narrative are those that hype Beterbiev and this justifies why Yarde had some success.

Ultimately he has stepped up twice and lost twice. Kovalev was there for the taking too.

He needs to be looking at the domestic scene now and trying to look for some big UK nights.

I would favour him over Buatsi but pick Smith to beat him presently.

 

Why on God's earth did you pick him to beat Beterbiev? I'm not dissing Yarde as he put in a great effort on Saturday and he deserves full credit for being competitive right up until the pull out, and he certainly gave Artur several moments of pause but, we're talking about an elite level amateur who lost 6 times in 300 odd amateur fights and who has battered everyone barring Bivol into submission, including a career ending drubbing of The Nail himself Gvozdyk who was no joke in his own right.

Personally, I thought if Yarde got into the second half of the fight, he deserved huge credit as the gulf in world level experience is truly vast! Beterbiev showed very little in the way of mileage for a 38 yr old and the Unification fight with Bivol is in my opinion the best match up in boxing right now. I respect your opinion of course but, just don't fully understand it.....

 

Yarde better than his top wins suggest but terrible record really but he wont be complaining as he's made a lot more money than you'd expect with those level of wins

 

I think yarde is better than it would seem, and he needs to capitalise on that now

I still don't rate him that high, but I hold him in higher regard now
