Hope you're right. I honestly don't know Benavidez too well and haven't analyzed this matchup buy just on the surface I question if plant can deal with the physicality.

its going to be a schooling. benavidez is only dangerous for people with no footwork that just stand right in front of him, if you can move he will be missing all night and getting countered to hell

Benavidez has some Joe Joyce slow-fastness in him.

The question is his mentality. If he loses the first six rounds will he give up or will he double down and try to get the KO?

We won't know until we see it.

I wouldn't be that shocked tbh, Plant is highly skilled and can fight. This is a big fight for sure.

Plant has very good skills... but at the top level that's not always enough, or I should say, it's not usually enough. You have to have a certain degree of raw talent against top tier opponents to go along with your skills, and that's the part I think Plant lacks a bit.

Like I said though I hope he proves me wrong.

true...Plant does have skills...movement. have the feeling too much is made of his ko of Dirrell. Expect Benavidez to beat the brakes off Plant. relentless pressure. think around 8th round....KTFO.

This is how I see it. Benavidez has been a monster because he has fought a lot of over matched smaller opponents. In some fights he looks more like a Frankenstein's monster than anything else. His biggest attributes are that he's huge (6'4" or more), has good stamina and keeps the pressure late, he also has the reach to get you from outside. But hey, if you can make 168, more power to you. With that said, he has fought no one major yet, and most of his opponents are too scared to even sit down on his punches and counter him. Gavril is not even too slick and gave him all kinds of trouble, blocked his shots and went 24 rounds.

Plant should be able to box circles around him especially in the first 6 rds, then he has to watch out for running out of gas. He needs to sit down on his punches and not be tentative like he was with Canelo. Can't pot shot with feather punches all night. Benavidez can be clocked with the check hook and straight rights. Plant has to bend down inside and put his hips, leverage into his hooks and body shots. I think Plant is capable of winning this but has to fight loose and aggressive, while still using his feet, speed, and good defense, also solid fast combos. He has to show that he can overcome these pressure fighters late in fights. We'll see where his self belief really is. Anything can be accomplished with the proper prep and game plan.

For all the monster talk about Benavidez, I think he get dismantled and exposed at 175. Bivol would have a field day with his slow feet, sloppiness, and unproven chin. I also think Canelo puts a whooping on him too. So many good fights for him at 175. Where is Charlo and Andrade, they have good styles for him too.

I expect David Benaivides to win but I Like both guys. I spoke to Benaivides a few years back on my friend’s boxing podcast. He came across to me as a very polite young man but a killer in the ring. I probed him about Plant and he could not help himself telling me that he though5 he was a piece of **** etc.

I don't believe that Plant has the power to fend off Benavidez. Benavidez will win in late stoppage, in my opinion.

Plant could school him for the first few rounds, but he has cardio problems

I think Plant makes this a difficult fight for David with his style.

Not a fan of either. Just benavidez is just another Ramirez. Benavidez should keep Bivols name out of his mouth. That would be a lacying.
