John L. Sullivan - Most Underrated Comeback Ever?

Sullivan is vastly underrated now, partly as obviously no film exists and its such a long time ago, but mostly due to the Corbett fight. Yes Corbett was all wrong stylistically for Sullivan, but people forget how old Sullivan was, how inactive he had been and how out of shape he was compared to his prime. I would rate it not far off a Jeffries-Johnson situation.

He is seem by many as an unskilled, clumsy oaf. Everyone forgets his speed which made him a deadly fighter when combined with his strength and power. A 19th century Tyson with added grit and toughness which was amazing.

Corbett ruined Sullivan's reputation as an all time great I believe which which was a tragedy for Sullivan, whose wild living ways caught up with him, but as a young hungry fighter he would of given most heavyweight champions a life and death battle.
