    - Failed to stop uber glass chinned journeyman Sour over 10 rounds

    - Got a highly controversial SD against journeyman Forrest over 10 rounds

    - Lacked the confidence/heart to go for the KO against "wounded lion" massive A-side home fighter Whyte

    - Threw slightly fewer punches than Whyte over 12 rounds according to Compubox

    - Undisciplined (15-30 lbs overweight against Whyte, has been 35-50 lbs overweight, inactivity, filed for bankruptcy despite being a father)

    - Limited pro experience

    - Is coming off his first loss and a big payday (less hunger)

    - Incentive to try to go 12 rounds and stay un-KO'd rather than to fully try to win (it got him the Joshua payday!)

    - Very short at 6'

    - Former AJ sparring partner

    - Away from home

    - Massive B-side

If Joshua had fought Franklin in Britain 4 years ago, Franklin wouldn't have been a 44/5 underdog, he'd have been something like a 44/1 underdog: a bigger underdog than Buster Douglas was considered to be against Tyson by the most bullish casinos.

AJ has said himself he is only doing it for the cash. Unfortunately, there are still enough casuals to fund him fighting trash. It won’t last forever though.

AJ isn't a champ anymore so he's not really required to face top opponents. It's an OK tune up fight coming off b2b losses.

I'd prefer to see him go straight into the Whyte fight. If Joshua can't beat a Whyte coming off 2 KO defeats in his last 4 fights and a close 12 rounder with Franklin then he needs to retire. Fighting Franklin in April, Whyte at an undetermined date in the future and someone else sometime after that has the effect of dragging out the process of taking a meaningful fight. It does make sense from a cynical perspective though: easy money for Matchroom with an additional fight and your rivals are aging/accumulating damage in the meantime, given that Wilder for example is 37 to Joshua's 33.

Yeah I agree he is not dangerous I rate him as an above average club fighter. He did not beat Whyte I don’t care what anyone says at worst it was 7-5 for Whyte and for context I can’t stand Dillian Whyte.

Jermaine Franklin has a big left hook and a great straight right hand, he is very crafty inside the squared circle, alot of the things that he does are very old school, there are stories circulating around that Jermaine has knocked down and knocked out some of the biggest names in the heavyweight division in sparring. This could very well be a very interesting fight to watch.

(All of the above is just nonsense, a good example of how to hype up some bs, I have never seen this fellow inside the ring and haven't heard anything good about him.)

Franklin wouldn’t be my choice of opponent for AJ this late in his career BUT since two losses to usyk on the bounce AJ needs two things, rounds and a ko and he will definitely get these against the limited Franklin. Plus he’s relevant and probably wanting less money to fight AJ than what whyte demands.

I just hope after this we see AJ fight Fury or Wilder next

This is the type of fighter that Joshua needs at this moment in his career,as for fighting Whyte that fight will always be there. Let Joshua fight Franklin which gets him back in camp as well as getting some good rounds in a fight that he should not lose. Then we will see how Joshua performs and hopefully his heart will be back in the game and then onto the next opponent as he rebuilds his career .

    That's the sarcasm i like....

Complaining about Franklin as an opponent but talking about how AJ should fight Whyte (again)...

    LMFAO.

Franklin is a better opponent than Whyte at this point.

Well Franklin is a step up from Furys former opponent Sefer Seferi.

Why should Franklin not get his 5 minutes in the spotlight, his loss to Whyte sure was not clear cut.

Franklin sure is not the worst opponent that an ex champions has faced in their comeback bout.

going 10 rounds with Pavel Sour is quite something. you’d have to actually try and carry him.

even Hughie Fury stopped him in three

He's below the likes of Chisora & Takam. It's a good confidence boost for AJ and he should give him rounds. AJ needs to knock him out in 7 to create a bit of momentum for himself ahead of bigger fights.

The public turned their back on AJ and loved sticking the knife in at every opportunity.
Now he's going to rinse them for as much as he can and probably move to Dubai or somewhere and live out his best life having the last laugh

Joshua got 2 consecutive world title losses and he lost his self-confidence. We all saw his meltdown in the end of the rematch with Usyk. Therefore, it wouldn't be reasonable to make him fight someone in top 10. He needs to regain his self confidence by fighting mediocre opponents for a while and rebuild his career.

By the way, Franklin is not so bad. I'm getting Ruiz Jr vibes from Franklin. It will be an enjoyable fight. It's worth seeing.
