The gigs probably up now imo. When things go wrong you need to properly analyze why they went wrong. We all speculate but tbh no one not involved will know better than the people involved.

The big question marks are can he make 160 safely was that a big factor in the smith fight?
Is roy jones junior a good trainer or a good fit for eubank junior?

Can only really move forward once them kinds of questions are answered. If the weight was the problem....he needs to move to 168. If its the trainer he needs a new trainer. If its both the trainer and the weight he needs both and if its neither the gigs probably up...its time to re analyze your aspirations in the sport.

I think talks of going up against guys like canelo as anything other than an opponent to keep canelo busy is silly atm. I think up at 168 at his age his career also becomes limited.

Maybe it was a lucky punch. Thats the only way it could be business as usual. I thought eubank was boxing well them first couple of rounds. But tbh a lot of guys in the sport predicted this day would come. When that happens it does point to maybe hes just not good enough. Personally i think they wasted his career a bit...he was progressing well and looking good with their unorthodox training. They paniced after groves beat him when the reality was groves was too big for him and very good at measuring distance a style thats not good for eubank. He could have done well staying at 160.

I think he’s been a bit underrated since that loss, people writing him off as if he’s completely shot and that Smith would always beat him. I reckon he can still beat Smith with the right preparation and if he boxes smart.

The Roy Jones style was only ever going to be disaster for his effectiveness as a boxer. Roy Jones had great feet, exceptional movement and reflexes. Eubank has very slow footwork and poor movement.

It's not a world title though. It's a made up belt. Whenever any of the real world champions have it it's only incidentally alongside the proper ones.
Although all the sanctioning bodies are so corrupt we can question them all. I did used to enjoy Warren conjuring up random postmen as WBO champs in the 90s when it was barely better than the WBU and co.

Rematch with Smith is pointless, Smith is just so much better all around. Eubank cant deal with guys who have stellar boxing pedigree and skills, its just how it is. He has done well to earn a fortune in his career, obviously his surname has helped but fair play to him he has a few decent wins and plenty of money in the bank. Guys like Canelo would probably put him in hospital tbh. He actually id articulate enough to do something else with his life. Boxing game is up for him now.

 

He should genuinely retire, he’s lost all appeal he once had.
