He had a rematch clause right? Spoke about wanting it after getting humbled but never followed up. He had a mediocre performance vs a nobody and retired.

Guy was on the brink of legendary stardom when he fought mab the first time.
Its a shame how he went about it with that loss.
Did he get his soul snatched or were there different reasons for not wanting to avenge his loss vs Barrera?

He got totally exposed by a far better fighter and it would have been worse the second time around. Deep down, Hamed knew that the charade was over.

The charade was over and Hamed knew it and his ego couldn't handle anymore losses

He bought into the hype of himself and surrounded himself with idiots to the point it was his identity. He got Ronda Rousey'd and much like her, he couldn't deal with it.

Edit: I remember him being very delusional at the time as well talking about "I never lost a fight in my life" which is obviously a lie. Then he got that ass beat.

Hamed had avoided Marquez and took the Barrera fight instead because Barrera was the smaller fighter moving up from 122 pounds. When MAB boxistically humiliated him, he knew it was'nt going to get any better with the likes of Marquez and Morales.
Hamed was strong and very athletic, but he simply was not skilled enough and had to have found out for himself in the gym against real skill that he was'nt going to cut it againt better fighters than what he had been fighting.

Morales would beat the **** out of him worse than Barrera did.

He’d had enough with boxing. Whilst Barrera clearly won their bout, it wasn’t a one-sided defeat. Hamed won his fair share of rounds and could have beaten Barrera if he boxed more cleverly.

Well Hamed had a comeback fight against Galvo obviously to rebuild, it was a stinker and he was pretty lackluster in the fight. After that he probably thought he didn't have it anymore and wisely retired.

Hamed was a showman, but he never had the skills to take on Barrera. Hamed was awkward and had a crazy sneaky strong counter punch which saved him a couple of times, but lacked many fundamentals. He looked chinny and poised to lose to Kevin Kelley and even Augie Sanchez. You could just imagine a more skilled operator outboxing Hamed. It would have been Mayweather hadn’t Barrera gotten to him first.

I'm sure not having to lose 35lbs during the camp in order to make the Featherwight limit would've also helped Hamed's cause somewhat.

Angie Sanchez went to Cheyenne HIGH school here in Vegas. He was a really good fighter but got absolutely ruined by Hamed.
