The Nail was probably my favourite of the LHW of this era. His fight against Beterbiev was one of the best technical displays by two fighters in recent memory, and was solidly up on the cards at the stoppage. His beatdown of Adonis Stevenson was probably one of the most satisfying moments in boxing. Shame we lost three and a half years of his career, and when he was still in the tail end of his prime. I feel he would've given Bivol a tough run, and would've performed similarly well against Beterbiev in a rematch.

Bringing it up because I saw he fought again only two weeks ago, and I had no idea.

He is very weak mentaly, probably weakest of hyped ukrainian fighters, out of those 4 fighters.

I remember people blamed Atlas, his coach for everything that has happened to him, which is/was BS.

It's too late for him to do anything and he don't deserve nothing, after his BS comments about Canelo beating Bivol

I think he took alot of punishment against artur and then he got another job. He probably burned alot of money and wants to come back

I thought he had to retire because of brain damage?

Wait, a boxer coming out of retirement? This is a rare occurrence, I can’t think of another boxer to ever retire, only to come out of retirement and fight again. Crazy! Please keep me posted.

He was in hospital after the beterbiev beating with possible brain damage and after his experience with Adonis he wisely retired. There was no brain damage after all so he is coming back after a healthy recovery time.

Beterbiev using the back of his head like a punching ball retired him

I think he cracked under the Beterbiev beatdown. Needed time to recover and get perspective on what happened. A very attractive-looking boxer/puncher, I hope he does well in his comeback.

Someone was telling me that back in the amateurs the uk fought the Ukraine at York hall and it was 5 fights. 3 of the Ukrainian fighters were usyk, gvozdyk and Lomachenko. Imagine being there that night! What a treat!

This is what I took from it.. Fighters are rarely the same after something that traumatizing happens to their opponents.. That’s why I was surprised he wanted the Beterbiev fight because he was gonna have to match Beterbiev’s violence to win and take a lot of punishment in the process win or lose..

When he retired I felt he was leaving too early, and this could happen, but working with Atlas can mess anyones head.
No problem taking a year away if necessary, as seems to be the case.

The Covid pandemic and the war got into the way for him, may have delayed his life up to 3 years.

Was more asking a reason why he retired in the first place, but glad you had fun missing the point
